MONOCHROMATIC PRIZED PEONY

I have another card made with the Prized Peony stamp set today.  I don't often do monochromatic cards, but I had a fun time challenging myself to do something out of my comfort zone.

The only color used was Flirty Flamingo.  The background for this card was made using the Shaving Cream Technique.  Have you tried this technique?  If not, you should.  It's a lot of fun and every result comes out differently.

To try the technique, just pile some inexpensive shaving cream on a paper plate.  Use a knife or similar tool to spread it to a layer approximately 1" thick that is big enough to cover whatever size cardstock you are using.  I used Basic White Cardstock, but Shimmery White is also pretty.  Once you have your shaving cream spread out, add a few drops of re-inker.  You can use a single color like I did for this monochromatic look or multiple colors.  Use a knife (or similar tool) to swirl the ink through the shaving cream.   You want to make sure you have a "pattern" in your shaving cream.  If you stir it too much, multiple colors will become muddy, or if you use one color like I did, your shaving cream will just turn into a "pink" pile.  You won't end up with much of a "design" on your cardstock.  After stirring, just lay your card stock in the shaving cream.  Lightly press it into the shaving cream to make sure the surface of the cardstock is covered.  Remove the cardstock from the shaving cream and scrape the excess shaving cream off the card stock.  If you've missed a spot, you can also dip it in again.  It's a little messy, but a LOT OF FUN!  You will be surprised at the result -- every time!

After I completed my background with the Shaving Cream Technique, I embossed it with the Timeworn Type 3D EF.

I stamped the medium sized flower with Flirty Flamingo Ink on Basic White and die cut it with a Layering Circles Die.  The Flirty Flamingo Scalloped Circle was also made with a die from Layering Circles.

The SO Sorry for your LOSS sentiment is one of the sentiments in the Prized Peony stamp set.  It was also stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink and die cut with another die from Layering Circles.  I used a Sponge Dauber to add a little ink around the edge of the sentiment and then layered it on a Basic White mat also die cut with a die from Layering Circles.  The Basic White Mat was also embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder.

I added a small bow from Glittered White Organdy Ribbon and three small Basic Pearls to the card front.

When I made my Shaving Cream Background, I made it a little larger than needed.  I often do this when I use this technique because it's nice to have some "scraps" left after I trim it down to size.  I used the scraps to decorate the Basic White panel on the inside of the card and also stamped the smallest flower from Prized Peony.  The sentiment is from a retired stamp set.
