SIDE-STEP CHRISTMAS? NEVER!

Today's card is a Side-Step Fancy Fold.  There are many versions of the Side-Step Fancy Fold out there, but for my first attempt at making one, I thought I would keep it on the simple side.  So I only gave it one step.

I also wanted to be able to show off a larger piece of this beautiful paper design from the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Aren't these packages so pretty?  I wish my packages looked this pretty after I finish wrapping them.  I've become more of a "gift bag" person lately.  How about you?  Are you a "wrapper" or a "gift bagger"?

On the left side of the card I embossed a piece of Misty Moonlight with the Snowflake embossing folder from the Wintry 3D two-pack.

The tree was cut from the silver striped DSP also from Whimsy & Wonder and then the Blushing Bride Tinsel was provided thanks to another die from the Trees Dies.

The sentiment covers the bottom step and both shapes were made with dies from the Tasteful Labels Die set.

I decorated the inside of my card by layering a Misty Moonlight and Blushing Bride mat under the decorated Basic White cardstock.  I stamped a couple of the cute little trees and then added a sentiment.

What do you think of this card?  Have you ever made a Side-Step Fancy Fold Card?  Would you like to try but aren't sure where to start?  Why not start simple, like I did, with a single-step!  I have a detailed tutorial available that has all the cutting and scoring dimensions you need to give it a try.

WHIMSICAL TREE SIMPLE SILVER ELEGANCE

Happy Monday stamping friends.  It's a new week and that means it is time to feature a new Stampin' Up! Bundle!  This week's suite of products is absolutely beautiful.   The Whimsy & Wonder Suite is elegant yet whimsical and such a fun combination.

Today's card, made with Soft Seafoam and Basic White cardstock is elegantly clean and simple.  The largest tree is embossed with Silver Embossing Powder and quickly cut out with one of the Trees Dies.  The three Mint Macaron trees behind it were easily cut with additional dies from the stamp set.

The Basic White background is embossed with one of my favorite embossing folders, Evergreen Forest.

I used the Mint Macaron Holly pattern from the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper to cut a couple of tags with a die from Ornate Frames.  Those tags were staggered and trimmed on one end to provide a backdrop to highlight the "Joy" sentiment which was cut with a die from the Tasteful Labels Dies.

In keeping with the simplicity and elegance on the front of the card, I tried to maintain that same feeling on the inside.

The sentiment is embossed with silver embossing powder and the two ends of the tags that I snipped off for the front of the card were used it add a simple touch of color to the inside.

As we start to prepare for the Christmas Season, I wish you Joy and a season of preparation as peaceful as the feeling of this card.

SPIDER FRIENDS FOR HALLOWEEN

I do NOT like spiders, particularly when they are on my windows or traveling across my walls or floor like they own the place!  But when you live on the water, there isn't a lot you can do but learn to deal with them.  So, today I decided I would just let this spider and his giant web take the front and center focal point on my card!

This spider web was die cut from Black Glitter paper with another of the Frightful Tags Dies so at least it is sparkly!  I hesitate to call it sparkly and pretty because I just don't think I can make myself call a spider web pretty.  But it is sparkly!  And I do like sparkles.

I do like the background that the little guy chose though!  What do you think?  Do you like the swirls and twirls on the background?  Do you know how I made it?  With shaving cream!  This is such a fun technique that we used in my Technique Class a few weeks ago.  It is a bit messy, but it is fun.  Everyone loved it, and you can guarantee no two cards will look alike!

I added a piece of the black and orange striped designer series paper from the Cute Halloween pack on the bottom of the card and then wrapped some Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon around the card and tied it in a bow.  I like this ribbon not only because it has lots of sparkles, but it is also easy to tie.  I can be a bit bow-challenged so I like when a ribbon is easy to work with!

I stamped the cute Less Trickin' More Treatin' sentiment from the Frightfully Cute stamp set and then die cut it with one of the dies from Stitched So Sweetly.  With the same die I cut a second piece from black glitter paper, cut it in half with my paper snips and separated the pieces a little to create a background for the sentiment.

And as I always say... never leave the inside of your card naked.

The spider on the front called some of his friends to help him make another strip of Basic White cardstock created with the shaving cream technique to decorate the inside of the card.  They all wish you an early Happy Halloween.

I hope you like today's card.  I had a lot of fun making it, and I'd love to hear your comments.  There is a free tutorial available at this link.
