I have another card today that was made using the Splendid Thoughts Bundle. I've had a lot of fun making the cards for the August Stamp Camp-to-Go and the posts this week with this bundle.
If I'm honest, when I first saw this Suite, I wasn't so sure it would be on my list, but since it was being used in the Creativity Now Event, which I was participating in back in June I decided to try it. That event, and the samples in the Fall Mini changed my mind. The Splendid Day 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper is absolutely gorgeous. This is one of those collections where you just want to look at and admire the paper and have to force yourself to cut into it. It is too pretty to cut up.
For today's card, I adhered a strip of one of the Splendid Day Specialty Designs to Soft Sea Foam cardstock and then I cut the assembly with the largest of the Deckled Rectangles Dies. Have you tried these? A "normal" rectangle would have still been pretty on this card, but the deckled edges add a bit of surprise and interest. After die cutting, I ran the assembly through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the Timber 3D embossing folder. Any time you emboss shimmery or foil paper, the embossing really adds to the shimmer and shine.
The flowerpot was made with two half circle die cuts -- one in Soft Sea Foam and one in Copper Foil -- layered together so there is a small copper border at the top. Both were embossed with the Stripes embossing folder from Stripes and Splatters. Several stems were cut from Basic White and Copper Foil. The larger "Puffy Leaf" Soft Sea Foam stem was stamped with Black Memento and then die cut with the coordinating die.
The stems were arranged in the bowl to create lots of texture. The sentiment was heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder on another half circle die cut.
A double bow from Copper Metallic Ribbon and 3 Brushed Brass Butterflies finished the card front.
For the inside of the card, I again used Copper Embossing Powder for the sentiments which are from the Celebrating You stamp set.
The Basic White and Soft Sea Foam layers were cut with the largest and second largest Deckled Rectangle dies. It is an easy way to dress up the inside of a card.
