SMOOSHING BY THE SEA

This week I am using one of my favorite Suites from the January - April Mini Catalog.  If you have followed my blog for any amount of time, you have probably heard me say many times that I love "all things water".  So, this By the Bay Suite of Products makes my heart happy!  I am also happy that the birds included in the suite look to be Sandpipers, and not Seagulls.  Because when I say that I love "all things water", there are a couple of exceptions.  Seagulls are one of those exceptions!

A few weeks ago, I shared a Smooshing Technique on my YouTube Channel.  I used that Technique to create the background for today's card.  It's a fun technique that creates "unpredictable" results.  I say "unpredictable" because you do not have total control over the end results, but I can promise you that you will usually be happily surprised by the results.

For this card, my "happy surprise" was the sand.  I'd intended for the sand to look blended like the water and sky, but I apparently spritzed a little less water on the sand than I did on the water and sky, so the ink didn't run as much.  But I love how it turned out.  I think it makes for more "sand-like" sand!

If you are unfamiliar with how to do the Smooshing Technique, you can watch the video below.

I have seen several different ways to do "Smooshing", but my personal experience is that this one is the easiest to do.  I hope you will watch the video and give the technique a try.  You may just get a "happy surprise"!

The clam was stamped with Blushing Bride ink and then coated with Wink of Stella.  The pearl in the clam is one of the large Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls that is part of the By the Bay Suite.

The Sandpiper was inked with Crumb Cake and then before stamping I used a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker to add a little of the darker ink on the stamp to create "highlights" on his feathers.

I love this sentiment, "You are a Pearl, Rare and Precious".  Wouldn't you love to receive a card with that sentiment?

I decided to keep the inside of the card clean and simple, so I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink the stamp with the seashells laying in the sand.  This gave a little color without being overly complicated.
