BEE MY BARGELLO VALENTINE

Today's card uses the fun and unique Bargello Technique to create the background.

The Bargello Technique is a needlework or quilting method that uses strips of fabric to create zigzag patterns.  I applied the technique to paper.  Can you see the zigzag pattern above made with the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP)?

If you are not familiar with this technique, you can watch my Learning with Friends video to see how it is done.  It's fun and easy!  If you can cut paper, you can do it!

The Valentine card today is made with the Bee My Valentine stamp set and the Bee Builder Punch.  I'm slowly working on my stash of Valentine's Day card so now I can add one more to the pile.

This card is not the traditional color of Valentine cards, but it certainly is bright and cheerful.  I used the Sale-A-Bration Heart Shaped die cut for the Lemon Lime Twist heart and then added a Bubble Bath heart for the sentiment.

I'm hoping this card will make someone smile when they receive it in the mail.

For the inside of the card I stamped some additional Bubble Bath hearts around the sentiment and added the colorful striped Bright & Beautiful DSP to add a pop of color.

CIRCLE MY ROCK & ROLL HEART

For my final Heart Shaped card this week, I decided highlight the heart by giving it a circular "window" to hang in.

After die cutting the front window with the Stylish Shapes Die, I temporarily positioned the window over the cardstock that I was going to stamp the heart on.  This insured the heart was centered in the window.  Then I stamped it through the window opening using the Rock & Roll Technique.  

This quick & easy technique is an oldie but a goodie.  Just ink your stamp first with the lightest color of ink.  In my case this was Calypso Coral.  Then before stamping, "rock & roll" your stamp in a darker shade of ink like Petunia Pop to pick up some of the darker color around the edges.  This gives some added depth to the stamped image.  If you aren't familiar with this technique, you can watch a video that I created for Connect to Create over a year ago.  It might be old, but the tips are still good!

Before adhering the window over the heart image I embossed it with the Dotted Circles embossing folder and then tied a snippet of ribbon to the window.

The sentiment from Heart Shaped was stamped on Basic White cardstock and die cut with a die from the same bundle.

To add some more texture to the heart, I added a heart die cut from one of the Peach Pie 2024-2026 In-Color Designer Series Paper patterns. 

The little flowers and stems were also die cut with dies from the Heart Shaped Sale-A-Bration bundle and then adhered to the heart.

To make the inside pretty, after stamping the sentiment from Bee My Valentine, I stamped the Heart Shaped heart over it with Peach Pie ink.  A strip of the same In-Color DSP used for the heart die cut was added to the bottom of the Basic White.

HEART SHAPED INSPIRATON

Today's card is meant to give you some inspiration for a quick & simple card using the Heart Shaped Sale-A-Bration Bundle.

This card provides a feeling of calm and is meant to send caring thoughts to someone who could use some encouragement.

This could be used for a get well card, a sympathy card or just to let someone know they are in your thoughts.

I used a blending brush to add a little Fresh Freesia color to the card front before stamping the heart from Heart Shaped with Soft Sea Foam ink.  After stamping I added a few subtle speckles by flicking the cap of my Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Write Marker on the brush end of the marker.

To make the sentiment-heart, I die cut both Fresh Freesia cardstock and Basic White cardstock with the heart die and then used the inside from the Basic White and the frame section from Fresh Freesia.   I added a little adhesive tape on the back to hold the two pieces together so that I could pop them up on dimensionals.  The Silver Foil stems were also die cut with a die from the Heart Shaped Bundle and then tucked behind the heart.

The inside was a lot of fun to decorate with this bundle.  I stamped the heart with Fresh Freesia ink and then the sentiment inside of the heart with Soft Sea Foam ink.

Another little flower was die cut from Fresh Freesia and a couple of the tiny little leaves from Silver Foil.  A few Festive Pearls were added to the front and one to the inside flower to add just a tiny bit of bling and finish the card.
