MAKE A JOYFUL CHRISTMAS MELODY

As I indicated in yesterday's post, this week I have decided to use one of my favorite card layouts for each card I'm sharing rather than use a single bundle or stamp set.

I'm winding down on making Christmas cards, but I realized I had purchased this beautiful Joyful Specialty Paper and hadn't used it yet, and this card layout is one of my favorites because it is a great way to show off beautiful designer series paper (DSP).

This is the layout sketch I'm using this week.

You can see that the card isn't exactly the same as a layout, but if you look closer you will see that each of the 3 elements on the sketch are on today's card.  I just rearranged them.  That is another thing that I love about this particular sketch.  I can use the same elements (no figuring out cutting dimensions) but just move them around to create something that looks totally different.

Since this Joyful Specialty Paper has lots of gold foiling, I matted each of the elements with gold foil.  Cards like this look beautiful but are really quick and easy to put together.  The Basic White background was embossed with the Merry Melody embossing folder -- which is another item I purchased but had not yet used.  I have to stop doing that!

The gold shimmer ribbon is retired, but I thought it was perfect for this card, so decided to use it anyway.  I'm a strong believer in using what I have.  I hope you do the same!  The gold pearls are from Blooming Pearls.  I love these pearls from the Fall Mini Catalog and was really happy to see that they will carryover when the catalog retires.

If you following me regularly you have probably noticed that I'm kind of in a rut with the way I decorate the inside of my cards.  Whenever I use designer series paper on the card front, I like to add a strip on the inside also.  Sometimes I mat it, like I did here with gold foil, and sometimes I use just the DSP.  It's such a quick and easy way to finish the inside, but I'm thinking I need to come up with some new ideas.  Does anyone have suggestions for me?
