It's Monday, and you know what that means. We have a new featured Stamp Set for the week. This week I am going to be using the Trees for Sale Stamp Set and the Sale-A-Bration Tree Lot Dies.
Today we are taking some time to relax and go camping at the lake.
I love to make outdoor scene cards by using masks that I tear from lightweight paper (like copy paper) and my blending brushes.
Today's campground at the lake was an easy scene. I just cut a piece of copy paper the same size as my Basic White cardstock and then I tore out the upper right corner to make a lake.
First, I covered my cardstock with the remaining portion of the mask and used my blending brush and Tahitian Tide ink to create the lake. I used a Tahitian Tide Stampin' Write Marker and a White Gel Pen to draw in some ripples on the lake. I also used my Wink of Stella to add a little glimmer on the water -- which shows up much better in real life!
Once I was happy with the water, I covered it with the piece of the mask that I had torn out of the corner. Then I used Sahara Sand Ink and a Blending Brush to add some beach area along the water. I found a stamp in the Ocean Front Stamp set that was perfect for adding sand speckles.
The grassy area was made with Pear Pizzaz ink and a Blending Brush. I used another stamp from Ocean Front to add some grass here and there and also a stamp from Heron Habitat to add some little darker grass spots and more grass. Don't be afraid to experiment. A lot of this gets covered up as you start adding trees, the camper, and sentiment, so just think of it as a background.
The trees in the top left were stamped with Mossy Meadow ink. Some were stamped off and some were stamped full-strength. By stamping-off once or more times, you can vary the color when using the same ink pad.
I thought the sentiment "Enjoy Your Day" from Heron Habitat was appropriate for a camping scene.
The little camper was fun to make. I just kept layering multiple die cuts and portions of the camper die cuts to achieve my cute little So Saffron and Mango Melody camper. I even gave it some matching curtains!
