Compared to Monday's card which was all shimmer and elegance, today's card is truly traditional Christmas.
The Thick Basic White card base is embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder to give the card a cozy, warm feel, but the interesting part of this card is the leafy green die cut made with the Hybrid Embossing Folder and coordinating die. I also used the "bubble background" die to cut a solid Garden Green background for the leaves.
A few weeks ago, on Connect to Create I shared my all-time favorite technique called the Shaving Cream Technique. The leafy die cut leaves for this card are from one of the Technique Sheets I made using shaving cream. The technique sheet was made with the monochromatic colors of Garden Green, Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow. Once the Shaving Cream Technique Sheet was complete it was easy to cut and emboss the leaves with the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing folder.
If you are not familiar with the Shaving Cream Technique and would like to learn more, the following video will show you how to do it.
Once you try it, you will love it! It is so much fun and every sheet you create turns out differently!
The Poinsettias are stamped with Real Red ink and die cut with coordinating dies from Merriest Frames. Before layering the flowers, I used a bone folder to slightly curl each petal. This just adds a bit of dimension and interest to the flower.
The sentiment is from Merriest Moments Stamp Set and is stamped with Real Red. It doesn't get much more traditional than Real Red and Garden Green colors for Christmas, does it?
A couple of Mint Macaron Pine Boughs were added behind each flower to help set them off from the background. Pale Papaya Fine Sparkle Adhesive Backed Gems add a bit of bling to the center of each flower and provide the yellow color needed for the flower centers.
To decorate the inside of the card, I used a leftover scrap from the Shaving Cream Technique Sheet along the right edge. In the lower left corner, I stamped a poinsettia in Real Red. Using the masking technique, I added three Mint Macaron pine boughs behind the Poinsettia. Rather than adding a Gem on the inside of the card (I like to keep the inside as flat as possible so that it closes and mails well), I used the little dots stamp in Merriest Moments to add a touch of Pale Papaya.
Both the front and inside sentiments are from the Merriest Moments Stamp Set and I feel as though these two sentiments work very well together.
