I'm giving you a sneak peek at another Sale-a-Bration item today. Of course, I'm using this week's featured stamp set again, Adorable Owls, but the gorgeous floral Designer Series Paper called Favored Flowers is also a Sale-a-Bration item. This paper has lots of beautiful deep rich colors including one of my favorites, Blackberry Bliss. It also coordinates with a new bundle in the Mini card Fragrant Flowers. If you love flowers, this set may call your name!
I struggle with picking color combinations and using colors from Designer Series Paper (DSP) makes it so much easier. Always remember that DSP make a great color coach!
Today, I decided to use the third owl in the set, this cute little flying owl. I also experimented a bit with different colors. I'll admit, I did some Googling to figure out which colors owls come in, but after looking at lots of pictures, I still wasn't sure about colors. The photos show such beautiful color variation on the feathers, but that level of artistic skill is beyond me. To see which Stampin' Blends colors I used, please click on this link for the Free Tutorial which will give you all the details.
The dots behind the Owls were made with the Hand-Drawn Dots stamp. I received this stamp during Prize Patrol at OnStage in November. I wasn't sure how I would use it, but after playing with it this week on a couple of cards (this was the first if you missed it), I really like it!
The upper Petal Pink corner of the card was looking a little blah, but I wasn't sure what to do about it. I thought about embossing it with an embossing folder but wasn't sure that the die cut section of the cardstock would survive embossing. Then I remembered the VersaMark stamping technique. The VersaMark gives a nice subtle effect. I forget about using that technique. The VersaMark dots added just the contrast it needed. Mom would have said, "It just does something to it!"
I thought that the sentiment that says HOOT! HOOT, You're so cute! was really adorable, but I wasn't sure who I would send a "you're so cute!" card to, so I used the masking technique to hide that part of the sentiment before I Heat Embossed it with white embossing powder on the Evening Evergreen cardstock.
Since I'm running a low on Thank You cards, I added a simple Thank You stamped on the inside of the card in Evening Evergreen ink. This sentiment is from a new sentiment set in the Spring Mini called Happy Labels. It has 12 very nice versatile sentiments.
I probably need another sentiment set like I need a hole in my head. It's an addiction. Some people have a Designer Series Paper addiction. I have a sentiment set addiction!
Below I have listed the items used on this card that will become available January 5 with the launch of the new mini catalog and the start of Sale-a-Bration.
Current Products used are listed below.
As always, if you ever have any questions about the cards I share, please don't hesitate to ask. I am here to help!
