ADORABLE BIRTHDAY OWL

Today's card is a simple Birthday Card using the Adorable Owls Sale-a-Bration Stamp set which is the stamp set I am featuring all week.

If you are new to Fairless Stampin' Flair, I feature a specific Bundle or Stamp set each week so that I can give you multiple ideas for ways you can use the featured product.

The Adorable Owls is a Sale-a-Bration stamp set that you will be able to select for FREE when you place an order of $50.  Sale-a-Bration starts on January 5, so you can't get him yet, but starting on Thursday, you will be able to choose him.

These little owls are so cute and today I am using the Birthday Owl.  I guess he doesn't have to be a Birthday Owl, he could really just be a Party Owl because he has a party hat.  But I've decided to make him a Birthday Owl because I'm running low on Birthday cards.  I have lots of November and December birthdays in my "circle", so I used a lot of my birthday cards.

Other than Christmas Cards, Birthday cards may be my favorite kind of cards to make.   They are certainly more fun than Sympathy or Get Well cards because they are happy cards, so you can get a bit silly and have some fun with them

This little Owl is the perfect stamp set to have fun with.

I used one of my new favorite color combinations, Night of Navy, and Parakeet Party.  The Designer Series Paper (DSP) background is from the Dainty Flowers DSP Collection, which is another Sale-a-Bration choice with a $50 order.  This paper has beautiful flowers on one side and awesome backgrounds on the other.  Plus, it coordinates with a new bundle called Dainty Delight in the Spring Mini.  The Mini catalog also goes LIVE on Thursday, January 5, so you can check it all out then.

For today's card, I also used a new background stamp from the 2023 January - April Mini Catalog called Hand-Drawn Dots.  To add a bit of color interest, I inked the stamp in an ombre color pattern of Night of Navy, Pacific Point and Balmy Blue.

The Owl is colored with Stampin' Blends, and if you would like to see the colors I used, you can download a FREE TUTORIAL at this link, to get all the specifics.

I used another strip of the Dainty Flowers DSP to decorate the edge of the inside of the card.  The first sentiment is from Happy Labels, a new sentiment stamp set in the Spring Mini, and the Happy Birthday sentiment is from a current set in the Annual Catalog called Celebrating You.

The Happy Birthday portion of the inside sentiments was a "happy mistake".  When I stamped it, I apparently had some ink on the edge of the stamp, so I ended up with a halo of ink where I didn't want it.   Rather than start everything over, I decided to just stamp it again on another scrap and mat it to a Night of Navy mat.  I actually like how it turned out -- probably better than the planned design, so that's I why I call it a "happy mistake".

I'm sure many can relate to getting a spot of ink where you don't want it!  How do you fix them?  Embellishments like pearls and rhinestones work well, but my "oops" was way too big for those, so this was my solution.  What do you think?
