Today's card is a simple card with the interest provided by the background.
If you happened to watch my Learning with Friends video last week, you will know that this is a Faux Leather background. If you missed the video, you can still watch the replay on my YouTube Channel.
I used Basic Beige cardstock and ink to create my Faux Leather Background. If you can spritz paper, crinkle it up and swipe on a little ink with your ink pad, you can make this Faux Leather background.
Making Faux Leather is very simple -- but it is not necessarily super quick as you need time for it to dry.
The tree "branches" were stamped with Pretty Peacock ink on a selection of Pretty Peacock Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Thoughful Journey. Yes, I do find it difficult to use the backside of the beautiful Thoughtful Journey paper, but I thought it gave some really pretty highlights to the tree rather than just using Pretty Peacock cardstock.
The outline at the bottom of each layer of branches and the diagonal "trim" was created using White Pearlescent Enamel Effects. This is such a fun product which I tend to forget about. I definitely need to practice using it!
The tree stand for the tree was die cut from Oxidized Copper Specialty Paper. For a little more bling I used the gold Drusy Embellishments. WOW! Do they sparkle!
Did you know that Drusy Quartz is known for some healing properties, including enhancing emotional balance, inducing relaxation, amplifying creativity, and increasing clarity?
I know that these Drusy Embellishments are not really made from Drusy Quartz, but couldn't we all use a few of those "healing" effects in our life?
After creating the tree for the card front, there was enough of my 6" x 6" Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper left to make a small tree for the inside. I practiced my Enamel Effects application a little more. Just a hint ... Be sure the Enamel Effects has completely dried before you close your card. (There was a lot of "drying time" needed for today's card.) 😏
