WOODED TEXTURED BLOOMS

HAPPY LABOR DAY!    I don't know about you, but I can't figure out where the summer went.

My summer flower pots are starting to look a little sad because somewhere in August, I usually get tired of watering them.  So this week I decided to pull out a flower stamp set that I haven't used very often called Textured Floral.  I thought maybe flowers would help me hang on to summer just a little longer.

The inspiration for today's card came from one of my tablemates at the Klompenstampers LIVE event held during August.  We were asked to bring one of our "favorite" cards to share during the event, and we shared those cards at our table on the first day of the event.

I was really fortunate to have Kevin Lunt from Stampin' Up! at my table the first day.  He was so much fun to get to know.  He shared his card on which he had stamped flowers on woodgrain designer series paper, and I loved it.  I love to see ideas of others because this is something I never thought of doing.

I used one of the woodgrain designs from Country Woods and stamped various flowers from the Textured Floral stamp set on it.  All I used for this card was stamps, ink and paper -- and well, 3 little Gold Textured Dots.  I have a hard time not adding just a little bling to my cards.  These gold dots will be available from the new Mini catalog on Wednesday, September 4.

Some of the colors I used show up better than others on the "wood", but I kind of like that variation.  The colors I used for the flowers were Blackberry Bliss, Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly and Bubble Bath.  The leaves were stamped with old Olive and I added some Wild Wheat Speckles and a Wild Wheat sentiment.  Next time, I may choose a darker color the sentiment as it feels a bit lost in the woodgrain, but there is even something about that that I like.

What do you think?

To make sure the inside of the card did not feel neglected, I added a scrap strip of the same woodgrain DSP as was used for the card front.

The inside sentiment is from the Very Best Occasions stamp set.

All products used were current except for the Gold Textured Dots.  Their item # is 164027 and they will be available to purchase on September 4, 2024.
