Today's card uses a couple of different techniques. The background was made with a fun technique we learned from Brandy Cox at the Spring Creativate Retreat. Sometimes it takes me a while to try everything they show us, but this technique turned out to be easier than I thought. Choosing the colors for my card was the most difficult part, but in the end I just went with colors from the 2024 - 2026 In-Color Collection.
The three colors I used for my background are Peach Pie, Shy Shamrock and Petunia Pop. The second technique was Painting with Enamel Effects. The Enamel Effects have so many fun uses. They have been on the last chance list at a great discount, and the last time both collections were still available, so if you haven't tried them, now is the time to pick them up.
I colored the White Pearlized Enamel Effects with my Shy Shamrock Reinker and used a small artist paint brush to paint the leaves. For the Rose I colored Gold Metallic Enamel Effects with the Peach Pie Reinker. I demonstrated Painting with Enamel Effects last month in a Learning with Friends video. If you missed it, you can still watch the replay on YouTube. I show how to mix colors and paint the images as well as provide some tips and tricks.
Since I also wanted to show off the Blended Stripes background I kept the rose focal point small, so you could see plenty of background. I also used another Brandy Cox style tip of keeping the cardstock all white. This all-white method has been growing on me as it really keeps the focus on the images.
Since the Along These Lines stamp set does not include any greetings, I searched through my newer stamp sets and found the Thinking of You in the Beautiful Motifs stamp set. It worked well with the Blended Stripes Background. And the nice thing about this technique is that the greeting is incorporated into the background so you don't need to add any additional pieces to detract from the rose.
For the inside of the card and the envelope flap I repeated the Blended Strips technique.
I left the inside sentiment free so that had plenty of room to write a personalized note.
