COLOR WASH CANDY CANES

I have a Candy Cane card for you today in non-traditional colors.  I used some beautiful designer series paper and created a color wash on watercolor paper for the background of today's card.

The beautiful Blushing Bride card front is made with the Brushstrokes Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Have you noticed this 12" x 12" paper in the Annual Catalog?  It is absolutely gorgeous, but I think until you see it in person you make pass right over it.  At least that is what my stampers told me when I used it in a recent in-person Technique Class.  The collection includes three colors, Blushing Bride, Soft Succulent and Night of Navy, and it truly is beautiful!

I used the Deckled Rectangle Dies to die cut both the Mossy Meadow DSP from Boughs of Holly and the Watercolor Paper.  Water Painters were used to create a quick and easy color wash background in Sweet Sorbet, Blushing Bride, and Calypso Coral.  This created a nice backdrop for the three candy canes.

From left to right the candy canes are Calypso Coral stamped on Basic White (that one must be Tangerine Flavor), White embossing on Mossy Meadow Boughs of Holly DSP (I think that is Spearmint Flavor), and Sweet Sorbet on Blushing Bride Brushstrokes DSP (Cherry? Strawberry? -- you choose).

The sentiment from Brightest Glow stamp set was die cut with a Labels Aglow die.  A few twists of silver cord from Simply Elegant Trim and some Evening Evergreen Mistletoe tucked behind the sentiment finishes the card front.

To stay in keeping with the Deckled Rectangle theme on the card front, I also die cut the mats for the inside of the card with the Deckled Rectangles dies.  A strip of the Blushing Bride Brushstrokes DSP and the Boughs of Holly Mossy Meadow DSP finishes the inside decoration.

SWEET CANDY CANES - NOVEMBER SCTG

The bundle that I used for my November Stamp Camp-to-Go (SCTG) is the Sweet Candy Canes Bundle.

These are the 5 cards that were part of the kits.  The Kit's include all the pre-cut cardstock, embellishments, and envelopes plus a detailed tutorial to complete the cards.

FOREVER FERN CHRISTMAS - THIS OR THAT?

Today I have a This or That post for you. I have two cards which are extremely similar, and you get to choose which one you like best. "This" one or "That" one? Both use the Forever Fern stamp set to create the wreaths, and the center sentiment is from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set and die cut with a Stylish Shapes die.

This is the "THIS" card.

The "THIS" card has a bit of a more traditional wreath; the poinsettia designer series paper is at the top of the card, and it has an Evening Evergreen Ribbon and the scalloped die cut behind the ribbon was made with the Penned Flowers Dies.

The inside of the "THIS" card follows the theme of the poinsettia DSP being at the top of the decorative bottom strip with the dots at the bottom.

This is the "THAT" card.

The "THAT" card has a little more of an organic free-flow wreath, the poinsettia designer series paper is at the bottom and the ribbon is white with Rose Gold stripes.

The inside of the "THAT" card follows the theme of the dots DSP being at the top of the decorative bottom strip with the poinsettias at the bottom.

THE CHRISTMAS WOODS

For today's Christmas card I used one of the patterns from the new Designer Series Paper (DSP) called Boughs of Holly.  If you prefer DSP that is more traditional in design and color, then you will love this one from the 2022 July - August Mini Catalog.

This particular design makes you feel like you are in the middle of a Wintery Woods.

I used the third largest die from Scalloped Contours Die to create my focal point of pinecones and pine boughs that look like they were freshly picked from the woods behind them.  Can't you almost just smell the fresh pine scent that we love at Christmas?

To create my stamped pine boughs, I used the stamp rolling technique.  This is an old technique and was one of the first that I learned as a beginning stamper over 17 years ago.

You just ink the stamp with the lighter of two ink colors and then you "roll" the edges in a darker shade of ink.  I used Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen ink and by using two shades it makes the pine boughs have more depth and variation of color.

The Cherry Cobbler berries add a little pop of color.

I used the Stylish Shapes dies for my sentiment.  The MERRY sentiment from the Christmas to Remember stamp set is highlighted by a square Soft Succulent mat positioned on the diagonal.  The stitching on these dies keeps a consistent them with the stitching on the Scalloped Contours Basic White die cut.  

Three Brushed Metallic Dots were added to the card front for a little bit of gold bling.

The inside uses another sentiment from Christmas to Remember and the inside is decorated with a simple strip of the same DSP as used on the card front.

The envelope flap is also covered with the same Boughs of Holly DSP.
