LET'S GO FISHING DIAGONAL TRI-FOLD

Do you have someone in your life that loves to fish?  Today's card would be the perfect birthday card for them.

While it is not 100% necessary, this card is most easily made with 12" x 12" cardstock.  However, if you don't have 12" x 12" cardstock in the color you want, you can use two pieces of your 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock to create a 12" x 5-1/2" card base.  That's what I did!

The final "closed" size of your card base is 5-1/2" x 4".  You score the 12" side of your 12" x 5-1/2" cardstock at 4" and 8" and then you cut the diagonal.

The tutorial at this link includes a cutting and scoring diagram.  The tutorial will also explain what I found to be the easiest way to cut the angles on the two "front-facing" pieces of designer series paper.

And speaking of DSP, isn't this Let's Go Fishing DSP fun?  When I first saw it, I wasn't so sure I wanted it because I didn't really have fishermen in my life.  So, initially it was the back sides of the designs that won me over.  Check it out in the Product list below to see more of the designs.

However, when I actually received the paper, I saw that the colors in this fish design were so pretty that I knew I had to find a way to use it.

Since I wanted the DSP to be the focus of this card, I kept the front focal point very simple.  I used the dies from Wanted to Say to create my greeting and decided to only add some Linen Thread and some Wild Wheat In-Color dots as my embellishments.

The above photo shows the card when it is fully opened.  The map design on the top of the Very Vanilla cardstock was nice and subtle and I thought it was a good contrast to the Wild Wheat Fishing Poles and the fish.

TWO DECKS OF BIRTHDAY FLOWERS

I first saw this Double Decker Fun Fold a few weeks ago on the Demonstrator Planning Place.  Polly Libby share a beautiful card using this fun fold which I had never seen before.

Learning from other demonstrators is one of my favorite things about being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator.  There are so many wonderful creative demonstrators who are willing to share their ideas and know-how.

This card is best appreciated with more photos and less chatting, so today I am going to share more photos with you than words.  However, if you are interested in learning how to make this Double Decker Fun Fold, please download my free tutorial.  It includes additional photos to help understand assembly as well as cutting and scoring diagrams for the card base and the mechanism.

The above photos show the card fully closed.  You can see the middle layer peeking out from behind the top layer.

Above are a couple of photos with the card pulled a little further open.  There is a little mechanism box behind the middle layer which makes it pop up as you open the card.

The embossed Basic White background on the card front was made with the Layered Florals embossing folder.  This is a sneak peak of a new embossing folder coming in the 2024 Jan - April Mini catalog.

This gorgeous paper is from the Delightful Floral Designer Series Paper (DSP) Collection which is an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE.  There is a coordinating Bundle (stamp set & dies) in the Fall Mini called Translucent Florals.  The dies in that bundle coordinate with flowers in the DSP.  However, since I don't have that bundle, I just fussy cut the flowers on the front and middle layers from the DSP.

The Translucent Florals stamp set and dies will carryover from the Fall Mini but will no longer be bundled.  So, if you love them and don't already have them, be sure to purchase them before the Fall Mini catalog retires to get the 10% bundled savings.

Now that I have made this fun-fold for my first time, I will definitely be making it again.  I like it so much I made myself a fun-fold template sample from retired products so I can easily remember how to do it the next time!

I hope you have enjoyed it also.  Be sure to take advantage of downloading my free tutorial so you can try it, too!  If you ever have questions on my tutorials, please be sure to contact me.

DUAL ANGLE FUN FOLD

This week I will be sharing FUN FOLD cards.  I chose some I had not made in a while and also one brand new one -- well, at least new to me!

Fun Folds are always a wonderful way to use our beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP)!  Today's card uses the Winter Meadow DSP.  I'm so happy that this gorgeous paper from the September - December Mini catalog is not retiring but will be carrying over.  I'm not sure if it will show up in a future catalog or will become an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE, but I'm just happy it will still be available.  It's so pretty and the soft colors are so calming.

Because of the calming colors and designs, I decided to pair it with a sentiment from the Courage & Faith stamp set.  I used the Deckled Circles Dies to die cut both the sentiment and it's Misty Moonlight mat.  I added a little bow made from the Misty Moonlight Braid Ribbon.  Isn't it pretty?  Three Misty Moonlight Tinsel Gems add just a touch of sparkle.

At long as you know the cutting measurements, this is a very easy Fun-Fold to make.  If you can use a ruler and measure one inch, you can make this card.

I've included a cutting and scoring diagram in my tutorial.  Use this link to download a free copy.  Also be sure to read the hint on how to cut both pieces of designer series paper at the same time!

I am not really known for "simple stamping".  It isn't necessarily "my style", but I do like cards that are simple to make, but don't look like they were.  This fun-fold is one of those.   The angled fronts add interest and detail, but don't let that scare you.  I hope you will check out the cutting diagram and the supply list and you will see just how easy this card is.  I'd love to hear that you have given it a try!

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from another beautiful Sentiment Stamp Set called So Sincere.  It includes meaningful and encouraging sentiments for all occasions.  You can check it out on the Product List below.  It is also going to be carried over from the Fall Mini Catalog.  YAY!

But remember, I share these cards to inspire you!  You do not need to use the specific sentiments, designer series papers or colors that I used!  Use what you have!

FLIGHT & AIRY SALE-A-BRATION SNEAK PEAK

It may not look like it, but I'm again using the same card sketch/layout that I have been using all week.  I just flipped it horizontally.

As a reminder here is the card sketch/layout I'm using this week.

Does this card make you smile?  It makes me smile because it makes me think of Spring -- my favorite time of year.  Well, my favorite may be a toss-up between Spring & Summer, but this card definitely reminds me of both.  I need a reminder today because as I look outside I see the ground covered in white with more snow continuing to fall.  If it doesn't stop soon, I'm going to need to go out and shovel!

The pretty Designer Series Paper (DSP) used on today's card is a sneak peak of a new designer series paper collection called Flight & Airy.  It will be available as a free item choice with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration.  Sale-A-Bration starts on January 4, so I'm sharing some sneak peaks.  Other than the sentiment, everything colorful that you see on the front of this card is from this DSP.  The two little love birds were fussy cut from one of the designs.  Aren't they cute?  I just added them to a Countryside Corners Die that I added some soft color to with my Blending Brushes.

The Basic White card front was embossed with another Sneak Peak.  It is the Softly Sophisticated embossing folder that will be available as part of a stamp set and embossing folder bundle.  This bundle will be available for free with a $100 order.  I'm already in love with the embossing folder.  I haven't played with the stamp set yet, but the embossing folder is getting a workout!

Since this paper is so happy, I needed to add a little strip on the inside of my birthday card.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing how you can use one inspirational layout to create a variety of cards.  Do you have a favorite card layout?

Use this link to download a tutorial for today's card.  It will give you all the cutting dimensions along with step-by-step assembly directions and a complete Product List.

A list of current products is shown below.  Sneak Peak products are listing on the tutorial and will be available during Sale-A-Bration starting January 4, 2024.
