ARTISTICALLY INKED FOR SIMPLY MONDAY

The last couple of weeks, I have used stamp sets and bundles that we are saying goodbye to, but this week we are going to welcome back some old favorites!

This week I will be using stamp sets and bundles that will be returning in the 2023 - 2024 Annual Catalog, and I am happy to say that there are also more favorites that are returning than I can possibly use in one week of posts.

Today I am using the Artistically Inked Bundle for Simply Monday.

This stamp set has been a long-time favorite.  The Disinktive stamps make such beautiful images so easily.  The stamp does all the work as the "shading" is already "built in".

Do you see the color variation?  All I did was ink the stamp and stamp on Basic White cardstock!

For this Simply Monday card, I used the Tahitian Tide Glimmer Paper for my background.  It provides so much shimmer and sparkle with no effort at all!

The coordinating dies from Artistic Dies make simple work of die cutting all the stamped flowers and leaves and there are also a couple of detailed dies in the set.  I used one of them to die cut the leafy branch from Shaded Spruce cardstock.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the large flower with Daffodil Delight and then masked it.  After masking I stamped the two sets of leaves.

The trick to creating realistic masked images is to make sure the mask is cut slightly smaller than the image you are masking.  If you use the die to create your mask, just get out your paper snips and trim it a bit in the areas where you are going to stamp the leaves so that it is just a tiny bit inside the edge of the flower.  That will make sure there is no white gap between the flower and the leaves.

TOILET PAPER FOR THE ART GALLERY

It may seem weird or funny to have Toilet Paper and Art Gallery in the same title.  But, if I were a betting woman, I'd bet that Art Galleries have Toilet Paper on hand.  Don't we all?  Since COVID, I seem to have a bigger supply on hand than I ever did before!  I guess that fear of running out hasn't gone away yet.

But I digress...

I've shared a few cards with you recently that have used toilet paper to make an embossed background.  Today I have another.

I think that fear of running out of toilet paper carried over into my cardmaking.  When I started experimenting with this technique, I just kept wanting to make more and more.  It was so much fun!  (Good thing I had a large supply of toilet paper on hand.)

For today's card I used the Art Gallery stamp set and coordinating dies.  This was a set that I was really hoping would not be retired as I love it.  But alas!  It is on the Last Chance List.

The two step flowers (or in the case of today's card -- 3 step) are so easy to stamp.  Sometimes 2-step stamping is frustrating for me because it is difficult to align the 2nd stamp, but with the Art Gallery Stamps, there is no precision required!  I love that.

The white background for the Fresh Freesia flower is made with the Pretty Flowers embossing folder and the Embossed Toilet Paper Technique.  The Pretty Flowers embossing folder is also on the Last Chance List, but no worries, this technique works wonderfully with any embossing folder you have.  I experimented with standard embossing folders (like the Pretty Flowers) and 3D Embossing Folders.  Each type works great!  Just be sure to use the correct sandwich for the type of folder you are using when you run it through your Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine.

Here is a close-up of what the embossed toilet paper looks like.  Isn't it pretty!  Who would have thought toilet paper could be pretty!  And who comes up with ideas like using toilet paper to make a card!

If you missed the video previously, you can watch the replay below.

For this card I wrapped the embossed toilet paper around a piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it on the backside.  This gives a nice clean finish to the edges.  Before wrapping, trim the excess TP leaving approximately 1/2 inch all the way around the cardstock.  But when you trim, save your pieces.

You can use some of that trimmed excess to decorate the inside of your card like I did.  After stamping my flower, I just tore the top edge of a trimmed piece, and then used liquid glue to adhere it to the bottom edge of my inside cardstock.

If you have followed me for any time at all, you have often seen me also use trimmed Technique Sheet scraps to decorate my envelopes, however, in this case, I would not recommend using it for the envelope.  I don't think the toilet paper would hold up against the handling of the post office.

If you like today's card, I hope you will try the Embossed Toilet Paper Technique.  If you do, will you leave me a comment and let me know what you think?

To download a FREE TUTORIAL for today's card, please use this link.  The Tutorial includes all cutting dimensions and step-by-step directions for making the card.  Of course, you can watch the video to see how to do the technique, but the Tutorial also includes written directions for that.

THE POPPIES LAST PARADE

I have made so many cards using the Painted Poppies Stamp Set and Painted Labels Dies that I was struggling a bit to come up with a "new" idea.  When all else fails, always remember to look at the beautiful samples in the catalog.  Today, I totally CASEd one of the cards in the 22 - 23 Annual Catalog.

I changed up the colors a bit in order to use some of the retiring colors, straightened out the focal point and matted it, and changed up one of the flowers, but other than that, I didn't change much.

I know everyone loves to look on-line for ideas, but don't forget about the catalog.  It is a wonderful source for ideas!

I love my bright and cheerful Mango Melody flowers.  And if I hadn't seen the Stampin' Up! designers use a colored sentiment strip, I know I never would have thought to do that.  My sentiment is Coastal Cabana, one of the colors that I'm happy is returning.

I'm also so happy that the Brushed Brass Butterflies are returning.  I was really hoping they wouldn't retire.  Rhinestones, Colored Gems, Pearls, and dots are all great embellishments, but I just love having these little butterflies' flit around the flowers.

On the inside I stamped the field of poppies in Sahara Sand and then added my favorite poppy of them all, the small single stem with the drooping bud.  I think I am empathetic with that little flower because the flowers I try to grow always want to droop, too!

A list of the Products I used is shown below.  Many of these products are retiring, so if you are interested, please don't wait to place an order.  They are available through May 1 but only while supplies last.
