This week I am featuring the Encircled in Nature Bundle. This is an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE product that I've had my eye on for a while. There was something about the images and dies that spoke to me so I finally purchased it.
Today's card uses the Brayered Sky Technique that I demonstrated on my Learning With Friends Video last week. I used the technique to create the cloudy sky on the focal point. This card is probably not the best depiction of the Brayered Sky Technique, but I really liked how the sky looks like a storm is rolling in with the dark clouds.
If you are unfamiliar with the technique you can watch the replay of the Learning with Friends video below.
Today's card uses a Pecan Pie card base, a Night of Navy layer and a Misty Moonlight layer below the focal point. All of these colors are relatively dark and thus it creates a slightly moody card that works well with the stormy sky. A diagonal row of trees was stamped on the Misty Moonlight behind the focal point.
The Encircled in Nature Stamp Set includes a stamp that looks like a wreath that is made from twigs. I stamped that with Pecan Pie ink using the Colored Embossing Technique. There is also a video on my YouTube Channel for this technique which you can access using this link. This technique is a great way to turn any ink color into an embossed image. I used the same Colored Embossing technique to create the trees in Shaded Spruce.
The reason I used the Colored Embossing Technique was because I knew I was going to create the sky with a brayer, but I didn't want to cover the twig wreath or the trees with my Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy inks that I brayered on. By using the Colored Embossing Technique, I could easily wipe off any ink that got on the trees and wreath.
For all the details on how to make this card use this link to download a free tutorial. There are step-by-step directions and a list of supplies.
For the inside of the card I simply stamped a couple of the trees that I used for the Misty Moonlight layer on the card front.
