ELEMENTS OF TEXT & BUTTERFLIES

I decided to challenge myself this week to use a stamp set that is great for creating "backgrounds", but I wanted to see if I could use it in ways that would have it play a larger part in the design of the card.  I'm not sure how well I achieved my goal, but it was definitely a challenge.

The stamp set I am featuring is the Elements of Text stamp set.  The set includes three stamps that are text and two stamps that are speckles or splotches -- whatever you like to call them.  This is the stamp set.  As you can see there is a fairly large rectangular text stamp, a smaller rectangular text stamp and a large circular text stamp.

The two speckles stamps are similar, just different in shape and distribution of the speckles.

These types of stamps are typically used to add texture and interest to a card background or other images but are not necessarily the "focal" point of the card.

For today's card I stamped the large rectangular text stamp with VersaMark ink on Basic White cardstock.  I then heat embossed the image with white embossing powder and used the embossed resist technique to add Soft Sea Foam ink over the script to make it pop a bit.

The frame from Thoughtful Designs Specialty Paper (DSP) was die cut with a Sentimental Framing Die.

Elements of Text doesn't include any greetings -- unless maybe you can read the tiny text (I can't).  So, I looked through my stash and found this scripty "hello" in Beautiful Butterflies which fit perfectly on another Sentimental Framing die cut.

Since I had the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set pulled for its sentiments I decided to die cut a couple of the smaller butterflies from Basic White.  To add little pop of color to the butterflies I used a sponge dauber with Flirty Flamingo and Soft Sea Foam ink.

When I die cut the frame I ended up with a skinny "scrap" from outside the die cut.

Had I planned it ahead of time I probably would have cut my original DSP a little larger to have a wider "scrap" frame.  But since I didn't plan ahead I used it as is.  I think it still makes a nice attention grabber for the inside sentiments which are also from Beautiful Butterflies.

GALLERY BLOOMS ART

Cards like this make me feel like an artist -- or at least like someone pretending to be one!

I wanted to make a card that showcased all of the new In-Colors.  When I made the card I had only received the 2025-2027 In-Color Stampin' Write Markers and a couple of the ink pads, but the markers worked perfectly for this Aluminum Foil Painting Technique.

Lately, I've been a bit hooked on watching Paint & Pour Videos.  As I was surfing Facebook looking at Paint & Pour videos, I saw a video showing how to make a painting using acrylic paint, aluminum foil and a canvas.  I watched it a couple of times and thought, "Maybe I could do something similar with ink and cardstock!"

Today's card was the result of that experiment using Stampin' Write Markers!  Once I get all of the Re-inkers I have even more ideas for this technique!

If you want to watch a video where I demonstrate how to do my version of "Aluminum Foil Painting" you can use the link to watch my Learning with Friends video on YouTube.

Each time you do this technique it turns out differently which is my favorite type of technique.

For my Aluminum Foil Painting Technique background I used all 5 of the 2025-2027 In-Colors.  From top to bottom they are Strawberry Slush, Timid Tiger, Darling Duckling, Cloud Cover and Secret Sea.  Don't they work beautifully together?

After completing the technique and letting it dry, I stamped one of the flowers from Gallery Blooms with Black Memento ink.  I chose a tall skinny flower because I wanted as much of my pretty background to show as possible!

Just be sure that your background is completely dry before stamping because if it still damp, the Tuxedo Black Memento ink will bleed, and you don't want that to happen.

My card base is Cloud Cover and the dark mats and accents are Secret Sea.  The accent strips on the front and inside of the card were created with a die from Sentimental Framing Dies.

Since the Gallery Blooms stamp set does not include greeting stamps, the sentiment on the card front is also from Sentimental Framing.

Use this link to download a Free Tutorial.  I hope you will try the technique.  It is so much fun, and it will make you feel like an artist, too!

LET'S GO SAILING

It's Monday and that means it is time for a new featured Product of the Week!

This week I will be using the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  This is a new Online Exclusive Bundle that was released on May 6, 2025.

The pretty background to this card was made using the Aluminum Foil Painting Technique that I demonstrated on my Learning with Friends Video on May 1, 2025.

It is an extremely easy technique that uses minimal supplies.  All you need is a piece of aluminum foil, Stampin' Write Markers or Classic Ink Pads and some water.

To see just how quick and easy it is you can watch this video that demonstrates the technique.

The colors I used for the background were from top to bottom: Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lolly and Blueberry Bushel.

A few birds in the background and the sailboard were stamped with Black Memento ink.  The two-step stamps from Sunrise Sailing added the Blueberry Bushel "paint" to the boat and Lemon Lolly highlights to the sails.

The sailboat was easily die cut with the die from the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  I did not use the hybrid embossing folder for today's card but check back later in the week to see the gorgeous texture it gives.

The sentiment is also from the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  I die cut it with a Stylish Shape die and then added a double knot of two strands of silver cord (retired).  Drusy Embellishments add some sparkle.

Since this technique was new to me, of course, I practiced before I made the video.  So, I ended up with a couple of the completed sheets.  I used one of those practice sheets for the inside of my card and for the envelope.  You can see that these look a little different than the one on the card front.  That is what I love about these sort of techniques.  Each result is always unique!

Use this link to download a tutorial for this card.  It describes how to do Aluminum Foil Painting and gives you all the dimensions and step-by-step directions.
