LET'S GO SAILING

It's Monday and that means it is time for a new featured Product of the Week!

This week I will be using the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  This is a new Online Exclusive Bundle that was released on May 6, 2025.

The pretty background to this card was made using the Aluminum Foil Painting Technique that I demonstrated on my Learning with Friends Video on May 1, 2025.

It is an extremely easy technique that uses minimal supplies.  All you need is a piece of aluminum foil, Stampin' Write Markers or Classic Ink Pads and some water.

The colors I used for the background were from top to bottom: Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lolly and Blueberry Bushel.

A few birds in the background and the sailboard were stamped with Black Memento ink.  The two-step stamps from Sunrise Sailing added the Blueberry Bushel "paint" to the boat and Lemon Lolly highlights to the sails.

The sailboat was easily die cut with the die from the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  I did not use the hybrid embossing folder for today's card but check back later in the week to see the gorgeous texture it gives.

The sentiment is also from the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  I die cut it with a Stylish Shape die and then added a double knot of two strands of silver cord (retired).  Drusy Embellishments add some sparkle.

Since this technique was new to me, of course, I practiced before I made the video.  So, I ended up with a couple of the completed sheets.  I used one of those practice sheets for the inside of my card and for the envelope.  You can see that these look a little different than the one on the card front.  That is what I love about these sort of techniques.  Each result is always unique!

AT HOME WITH AN ANGLED TRI-FOLD

It's Monday, and that means it is time for a new featured bundle of the week.  This week I will be using a set from the new July - January Mini Catalog.  It's called Ringed with Nature Bundle.

This was one of those bundles in the new catalog that immediately caught my eye.  For the last few catalogs, I have been trying to select products that are different from sets I already have, and that is what drew me to this one.  

I have come to really like the Hybrid style of embossing folders, and this Ringed with Nature Bundle includes an embossing folder and coordinating dies that make various sized tree rings -- something I definitely did not already have.

Today's card is an Angled Tri-Fold Fancy Fold.  I've seen several of these, but the "angles" looked challenging and always made me hesitate to try it.  Then I came across a post from BlueLineStamping which provided very helpful information, so I thought I would give it a try.

I'm very happy with how my first attempt at this fancy fold turned out.

It gave me an opportunity to show off a couple of my favorite designs in the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) Collection.  I love the colors in these birds and the coordinating "sky" design.  This DSP is one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration items you can select with a $50 order placed before August 31.  It also coordinates with the Ringed with Nature Bundle.

The little house is a two-part stamp, so it is very easy to stamp the house and the roof in different colors.  My little house is Night of Navy stamped off a couple of times before stamping on my Basic White Cardstock.

The trees and branches were made using several of the little stem/leaf dies that are included in the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder.

For the sentiment I used the second smallest of the tree rings dies.  The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy and then over stamped with the tree ring stamp in stamped-off Soft Suede.  The edges of the die cut were inked with sponge daubers and Soft Suede ink to make it look like bark on the edges.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the tree rings 3 times and then adhered a house over them.

COLOR ME IN

I'm excited!  Today I get to share with you a card made with the Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder.

I'll be honest.  I had my doubts about a Hybrid folder.  I know what my die cutting plates look like after a few uses, and I could not imagine what an embossing folder would look like when it was run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with a die inside.  But I was amazed.  I've used it several times now and the folder is just fine!  I'm thinking maybe they should make cutting plates out of the material they use for the embossing folder!

For this card I first embossed the Basic White cardstock in the background with just the Hybrid folder - no die.  I used my Blender Pens and Soft Succulent ink to add shading to some of the leaves on the embossed background. 

Next, I stamped the three flowers with Black Memento Ink on another piece of Basic White cardstock.  The three outline flowers are all on one stamp which ensures that they align correctly in the embossing folder and die. 

After stamping them. I used the three separate "watercolor" stamps to add color to each of the flowers.  I then laid the die in the Hybrid folder (there is a groove that positions it) and lined up the flowers with the die and ran it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  This embosses and die-cuts the flowers into three separate flowers.  It's like magic!

Next, using dimensionals, I adhered the three separate flowers over the same flowers on the first layer.  Because the flowers on the background are also embossed this gives a little additional lift to the flowers.  If you are concerned about the card becoming too thick, you could also adhere them directly to the embossed background.

The Soft Succulent sentiment mat was cut with another die from the Bloom Dies.

The two leaves were stamped with Soft Succulent ink on Soft Succulent cardstock and die cut with a coordinating die.  The three little flowers were die cut from scraps in each of the colors of the flowers.

For the single flower on the inside of the card, I chose the flower I wanted and then masked off the other two with a Post-it Note before I inked the stamp.

I used the "watercolor" stamp to add the Pale Papaya color, matted the basic white to Fresh Freesia, and then adhered to the inside of the card base.

This card looks more difficult than it is.  The Hybrid Embossing Folder and the "watercolor" stamps make it very surprisingly easy.  If you would like to try it, I have a FREE TUTORIAL available for download using this link.
