CHRISTMAS IN THE GROVE

As I promised last week, my goal through November is to make a Christmas Card each week using whatever stamp set or bundle I'm featuring that week.

This week was less challenging than some.  The In the Grove Bundle can make beautiful winter scenes.

I used the trees die cut again today and combined it this time with the mountain range.  Rather than adding grass below the mountains, I left it white for snow.  To create some shadows which provide the appearance of snow drifts, I used a Water Painter with highly watered-down Smokey Slate ink and just "scribbled".

I also made a second die cut of the trees from Night of Navy cardstock and slightly offset it behind the Basic White Tree.  This creates a small shadow and adds some depth to the card.

The Pine Trees were stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink.  I used White Enamel Effects in an attempt to add "snow" on the branches, but I learned that Enamel Effects absorbs the color of the ink.  So, while it adds nice texture to the branches, it doesn't look like snow.  Oh well.  It shimmers and shines and that always makes me happy.

For even more sparkle, I added Wink of Stella to the snow on the mountains and also on the snow field below the mountain.

The Peace sentiment is from the Unbounded Love stamp set.

For the inside of the card I stamped the Pine Trees again and added a Christmas sentiment from the retired stamp set, Hope and Peace.
