I'm going to share a bonus card with you this week. This card was created for my Learning with Friends video on September 12, but since I'm sharing Reindeer Fun cards all this week, I thought I would post this card today.
This is absolutely the simplest version of creating Faux Leather. All you really do is spritz the cardstock, crumple it up, flatten it out a "little" and then adhere it to your card. I actually have two pieces of "faux leather" on this card. One is made with Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the other is made with Pecan Pie cardstock.
To learn more about creating Faux Leather you can watch the replay of my Learning with Friends video.
After adhering the two pieces of "leather" over an embossed Crumb Cake Snowflake Sky, I used the Spotlight on Nature dies to create my circle of sky from Basic White cardstock. An application of Night of Navy ink with a Blending Brush provided a night sky background for our flying Reindeer.
The flying Reindeer's name is Ryder. I decided to call him Ryder because he has that fancy harness which makes him look like he is made for riding, but I suspect it's real purpose is to pull Santa's Sleigh. Ryder is practicing his flying skills today without the sleigh. I hope he clears the tree! It looks like it is going to be close!
Ryder was created by heat embossing with White Embossing Powder on Basic White cardstock. He was then colored with a Blending Brush and Early Espresso ink. I initially wiped most of the Early Espresso ink off from Ryder and his harness, but then I added just a little more back on so his harness was more of a creamy white rather than a stark white.
The inspiration for coloring Ryder came from a card I saw in the 2024 Fall Mini Catalog (page 26). I wasn't able to match the reindeer's colors in the catalog exactly, but I like how Ryder turned out.
For the inside of the card I stamped a couple of the little trees in Granny Apple Green with yellow stars and then matted my Basic White cardstock on Night of Navy. It's simple, but at least it isn't naked.
These little trees have really gotten a work-out on all the cards I've made with this Reindeer Days Suite over the last month. They are the perfect size to add a little accent here and there.
