Aren't the big Buck and his little Fawn adorable? They were stamped with Black Memento ink on Basic White cardstock and then colored with Stampin' Blends.
This fun fold is a simplified version of the Side-Step Fun Fold. For this version there is no fancy cutting or scoring required like there is with the "regular" Side-Step card. That's why I call it a "faux" version of the side-step.
If you aren't familiar with this Fun Fold watch the following video to see just how easy it really is.
After I finished coloring my deer, I decided that Daddy Deer needed a little Christmas "bling", and I regretted that I hadn't given him a holly neck ring. But since I didn't really feel like starting over, I just stamped the wreath on a scrap of Basic White and then fussy cut it and put it around his neck.
As mom would have said, "it just does something to it"!
One thing I really like about this "Faux" version of the Side-Step Fun Fold is that I can move the taller focal point section anywhere I want along the card. For this card I decided to place it in the middle (so it isn't really a "side-step") of the card base, but that gave me some room on each side to add some additional pine trees.
I stamped the trees with Granny Apple Green ink but removed the ink from the star before stamping. I then added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel at the top of each tree for a little bling.
The "inside" of the card is actually the back of the card. I added a simple matted strip of the DSP used on the base card. You can also see a peak of the envelope which I covered with the same DSP that I used on the center focal point panel.
You can use this link to download a tutorial for today's card. The tutorial includes a link to the video as well as templates for both the "base" and the "side" card.
