I demonstrated how to make this box today on my Learning with Friends video. The box is sized to hold a minImun of 6 cards. If your cards have fewer embellishments or dimensional layers, it will hold more. Our handmade cards make great gifts and this box provides a beautiful way to gift them to someone special.
I've been sharing projects all this week with the Reindeer Days Suite of Products. So, I couldn't resist sharing one additional one here today.
If you missed the Learning with Friends video, you can watch the replay here and on my YouTube Channel.
If you are coming from the video to get the Tutorial for this whimsical box, you can use this link to download a copy.
In the video I tried to explain how to determine the size of cardstock needed to make a box in any size you need and then also how to know how to score that cardstock to make the box.
I'm not confident that it was clear in the video but as a simple reference here are a couple of formulas that you can use.
- Cardstock length = desired length of the box bottom + 2 times the depth of the box.
- Cardstock width = desired width of the box bottom + 2 time the depth of the box.
This wreath die cut and the cute little reindeer made with 3 layering dies just might be my favorite things about this bundle. Oh, and definitely I can't forget the Reindeer Fun Designer Series Paper (DSP) which has the cutest little characters! And some of those DSP images even have coordinating dies.
For my box I chose to hold it together with a belly band, but I could have just as easily used ribbon or nothing at all. As long as you don't overfill it, the box stays securely closed without either.
As I mentioned in the video, I like to add a lightweight piece of cardboard on the bottom of the box which I cover with DSP.
For the bottom of my Pecan Pie box I used another of the cute Reindeer Fun DSP designs. I liked that it design carried on the theme of the cute little reindeer's head peeking out of the pine boughs on the belly band. On this DSP he's poked his head through the wreath!
