REINDEER GIFT BOX

The Reindeer Days Suite of Products includes a little Book Box.  I do not often do 3D projects, but I had to at least try to make one of these.  This was actually the very first project I made with this Reindeer Days Suite, but I have saved it for last to share with you.

This box comes as a set of two pieces.  The one piece is used to create the "bottom" of the box. After creating that bottom portion of the box it is then adhered to the side of the "book" portion that has the tab.  The rest of the book wraps around the bottom box to create the lid.

I started by covering the sides of the bottom portion of the box with Party Cardstock, and also added a layer of Pool Party to the top and tab of the book.

I used the Pine Bough Die to die cut Garden Green cardstock and adhered that "upside down" (so the boughs point up) on the top of the book.

Then it was time to figure out how to decorate it.  I decided to use the little Reindeer head and have him peeking out through the branches of the pines.  He is made with a set of 3 dies that layer directly on top of each other to make the cute little guy.  The first layer was cut from Early Espresso; the middle layer from Basic Beige and the top layer from Pecan Pie.  I used my Blending Brush and some Petal Pink ink to add a little color to the ears of the Basic Beige before I adhered the pieces together.

After tucking him into the pine boughs I added the Merry Christmas sentiment above him.

Then I went to close my box.  OH NO!  The tab on the book box covered up my cute little reindeer.

Solution...  Make another Reindeer and put him on the tab.

For this guy I decided to give him a wreath around his neck and add a cute little Real Red bow with a Peppermint in the center.

To dress up the inside of the box I covered the bottom with some Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Reindeer Days DSP.

Now when the tab is closed, the Reindeer on the tab lays directly over the Reindeer on the top of the box.  The box does come with an adhesive strip under the tab, but I didn't want the adhesive to "mess up" my reindeer on the top of the box when the box was opened, so I used a couple of magnets to hold the tab shut.

The inside of the finished box measures approximately 3-3/8" x 2-5/8" x 7/8", so it will hold any small size gift like jewelry, a gift card or maybe a few sweet treats.

For my little box, I used everything that is included in the Reindeer Days Suite except the Red & White Twine and the Embossing Folder.  A complete list of supplies is shown below.
