The Elf is the last of the three little characters included in the Festive Friends set. Hiding an elf around the house was never one of my traditions, but I do think it is a fun idea so I decided to put the cute little guy on a shelf. His name is Elfie -- yes, I know. I'm SOooo creative! LOL
I die cut several of these skinny trees from Garden Green and Granny Apple Green cardstock and then placed them on my rustic shelf made from Country Woods designer series paper (DSP).
I have a hint for you when die cutting these trees. If you want to keep the center trunk with branches in the center of the tree, place a piece of Scotch Tape (or similar) on the back of the cardstock before you die cut the tree. Of course, if you want the trunk/branches to be a different color, then don't use the tape and they will be free to color or mix and match as you choose.
I'm wondering if I should have hidden Elfie behind the trees a bit. But he is just too cute to hide. I did use Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends to color his elf suit, so he does blend in a little bit, but he is definitely easy to find.
The Exposed Brick wall behind Elfie was given a bit of rustic color by using a Blending Brush with random shading with Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie, and Early Espresso ink. I purposely kept the blending uneven.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS is from Jolly Holly. The Festive Friends stamp set does include a few sentiments, but I used more sentiments this week from Jolly Holly because they worked better for my personal situation. Because I make these cards for personal use (and not just to demonstrate ideas for my posts) I want the greetings to work for me.
I added three additional die cut trees to the inside of the card. This greeting is also from Jolly Holly.
