POPPIES & PLAID

 

Only two days left until Christmas.  Are you ready?

For the last card of the week, I reverted to one of my all-time favorite layouts and a favorite color combination.  

I love black and white cards with just a pop of red, and I love things that are geometrically shaped.  That is why I am probably drawn to this layout with the diagonal element behind the focal point.

I used the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the July - December Mini.  This is a huge collection with 48 sheets of 12" x 12" DSP in many assorted colors of plaid.  And the best news is that it is currently 40% off on the Last Chance List!  If you love plaid, you are going to want to snatch this up!

I chose one of the black and white plaids for today's card, and then I stamped my flower from Beautifully Happy with Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green inks.  

The Beautifully Happy Sale-a-Bration Stamp set also includes six really nice sentiments in beautiful fonts.  This one "You are Easy to Love" is one of my favorites.  Wouldn't you feel uplifted if you received a "Just Because" card in the mail sending you this message?  I know it would make my day!

For the inside I did not include a sentiment as I would probably just include a hand-written note with this sentiment, but I can also always decide to add a sentiment later.  In keeping with the color theme of the card, I added a strip of the same black and white plaid and added just a tiny edge of Poppy Parade to add a little pop!

BEAUTIFULLY HAPPY ACETATE BIRTHDAY

A few weeks ago, I shared a video on Connect to Create about how to create cards with Window Sheets.  

One of those cards, made with the Grassy Grove Bundle, was shared on this blog on November 28, and today I'm showing you the second card that I shared during the video.  

Today's card uses two sneak peek products that will be available on January 5, 2023.  The flower on the front of the card is from a Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Beautifully Happy, and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) on the edges of the Window Sheet are from the Dry Brushed Metallic DSP Collection which will be available in the new Mini Catalog.  This paper is absolutely gorgeous!

The flower was stamped with the two-step stamp in Rich Razzleberry and Soft Succulent.  It is adhered to the window sheet, so it looks like it is floating.  I did adhere it with dimensionals, but I think if I were to make it again, I would adhere it directly to the window sheet using the technique I demonstrated in the video.

Adhering it directly will still provide the appearance of the flower floating, but when you open the card, you will not see dimensionals on the back of the flower.

For the inside of the card, I added another small flower and the cute little Bee.  I placed them carefully so they would look like they were part of the bouquet when you saw them through the Window Sheet.

Placement of the sentiment was also carefully positioned so that it was completely hidden by the flower on the Window Sheet.

For consistency, I also added a strip of the pretty Designer Series Paper to the Basic White cardstock panel used for the inside of the card.

CAJUN CRAZE BEAUTY

Happy Monday Stampers!

This week I am going to share some sneak peaks with you of a Sale-A-Bration stamp set that you can choose for FREE with a $100 order beginning January 5, 2023.

The stamp set is called Beautifully Happy, and if you love flowers, you are going to want this stamp set.

This large floral stamp is so easy to use and quick and easy cards.   It is a two-step stamp, so you first stamp the outline image and then use another stamp to fill in the colors of various portions of the image.  I stamped the flowers with Petal Pink and the leaves with Old Olive ink.  Sometimes two-step stamps can be challenging to align, but this one is super simple.

The background for today's card is made with the Metallic & Shimmer Designer Series Paper from the Fall Mini.  This beautiful, sparkly paper is on the Last Chance List.  Today's card uses the Cajun Craze version of the paper, but it also includes Basic Black and Evening Evergreen.  This photo does not come close to adequately showing the sparkle, shimmer and shine that this has.  And who would have thought that the colors Petal Pink and Cajun Craze go together!  But my Color Coach said they did, so I went with it.

A bow made with my favorite Gold & Very Vanilla Ribbon which will be carrying over (YAY!) from the Fall Mini and a few Opal Rounds add the finishing touches to today's card.

The inside has a little more of the pretty Designer Series Paper to give it a bit of sparkle, too.  You can never have too much sparkle in my book!
