For my last Decorative Border card this week, I have combined the simple leaf border from the set and a Die Cut made with an Artisan Die.
The watercolor background behind the die cut and on the left side of the card front is one of the designs from the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper Collection. This beautiful paper is a Sale-A-Bration item that you can choose for FREE when you place a $50 merchandise order between now and the end of February.
I topped the leaf border die with 3 of the small flowers also from the Decorative Borders stamp set. The images were fussy cut and layered over the Starry Sky Die cut with dimensionals.
The sentiment is from Nature's Prints stamp set and was die cut with the Natural Prints dies which are part of the Nature's Prints Bundle found in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.
To decorate the inside of the card I used another strip of the pretty designer paper from the Sale-A-Bration Dainty Flowers. I love this paper. Both sides of the paper are so beautiful that it is difficult to choose a side.
Today's card uses another two of the borders from Decorative Borders Stamp Set. The stamp used on the card front may be my favorite in the set. It has a nice curve to it, so it can be made into wreaths, or just a simple floral stem as used on this card.
For the background I used a technique called Water Colored Tissue Paper. My fellow Demonstrator and friend, Kathi Ondus, demonstrated how to do this technique on our Connect to Create Channel recently. Connect to Create is a collaboration between Kathi and I where each week we bring you a short video to share a new technique.

I had never done this technique so was excited to try it. Today's card is my first attempt! I used Polished Pink, Smokey Slate and Daffodil Delight because I felt in the mood for a cheery card.
The Decorative Border was stamped on Basic White cardstock with Black Memento ink and colored with Polished Pink and Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends. This stamp set does not have coordinating dies, so I fussy cut the stem after coloring.
Since I wanted to show as much of the pretty background as I could, I used the Amazing Thanks Dies to create my "thanks" sentiment. I love that the sentiments in these dies have a background die that coordinates with each script sentiment. My Polished Pink background die cut helps the actual script die cut to stand out. I first tried smokey slate for my "thanks", but it was a little blah. I thought I needed some sparkle and shine (two of my favorite things), so I experimented with our Silver Foil Specialty Paper. After some experimenting with the 3 different silver colors, I ended up with the darkest one which has a tint of purple. That seemed to work best with the Polished Pink on the card! For the inside of the card, I stamped another border from the Decorative Borders stamp set.
This is a corner border with a larger flower at the corner. It left plenty of room for my thank you note. I colored it with the same colors as I used on the front, Polished Pink, and Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends.
This week I am going to be sharing cards made using the Decorative Borders stamp set. This is a stamp set that Stampin' Up! gifted to the attendees at last November's OnStage event.
The background for today's card was created with the Faux Patina Embossing Technique, I shared this Technique recently on my YouTube Channel. If you are not familiar with this technique, I hope you will take a few minutes to watch the video.
This is a relatively simple technique that makes beautiful backgrounds, so I hope you will give it a try. If you do, please come back and leave me a comment and let me know what you think of it.
When I make cards with a special technique background, I usually make the background first and then choose the colors for the rest of the card based on my background.
The Faux Patina Embossed background was made with Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride, Coastal Cabana and Garden Green. The metallic embossing is Copper, and the embossing folder I used is the Quatrefoil Tile EF.
This combination of colors is not something I would have come up with on my own. I used my Color Coach for Guidance and when I saw the Garden Green added with the Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride & Coastal Cabana, I was really doubting the results. But I have to admit, the Color Coach knows what it is talking about. The small addition of Garden Green was the last color I added, and it just seemed to add exactly the right amount of contrast to make the rest of it pop.
Since I had used Copper Embossing Powder for the Technique, it was a no-brainer to emboss my Decorative Border with copper after stamping it with VersaMark. Since Blushing Bride and Garden Green Stampin' Blends are not available, I used Flirty Flamingo and Soft Succulent, and I liked the result. They seem to work well with the colors in the background. The last step was to mat the Decorative Border Focal Point, and I decided to use Rose Gold Foil. I liked how it played off the pinks on the card. The Thank You sentiment from Charming Sentiments was heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder and die cut with a coordinating Sentiment Silhouettes Dies. (Love this Bundle). This greeting bundle is great when you want to minimize the sentiment and have it "blend in" more with the design rather than stand out on its own separate tag.
For the inside, I kept it very simple -- but never naked!
The only decoration I added to the Basic White Mat was a strip of Garden Green cardstock layered with a strip of Rose Gold Foil.
