EASTER FUN FOLD

Today I have another fun fold card for you.  This "fancy" fun fold was shared by Brandy Cox at the Winter Creativate Retreat.  I made mine a little different than her's.  Not on purpose, but I think it still works! 

As with Monday's card, fun folds are not always the easiest cards to photograph. Some fun folds don't like to stand up well on their own.  Others don't like to lay flat.  At least this one does stand up nicely for display, but it is still a little difficult (at least for me) to capture how the card really works.

It also can be much easier to just show you how fun folds are made rather than explain it clearly in a written tutorial.  So, today I'm giving you both.  Watch the video to see how it is done and download the written tutorial to have all the dimensions that you need.

In the video, I actually made the card "correctly" -- the way Brandy made her's.  Now you can decide which way you prefer.  😀😀😀


This Easter Basket Bundle is part of a Suite of Products called Easter Joy.  I purchased only the Easter Joy Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Bundle, but the suite also includes adorable embellishments (some are checkered and egg shaped), Balmy Blue gingham ribbon and the Pleasant Patterns Specialty DSP.  Use the link to the Suite in the Product List below to see everything.


The Easter Joy DSP that I used is also a Specialty Paper.  Some of the images are "foiled", but there is also a unique sheen to the paper.  This DSP is heavier weight than our "normal" DSP.  Watch the video to get a better, up-close view.

But, for me, the star of the show for this suite is the dies!  All the images in the stamp set have coordinating dies -- three adorable bunnies, a cute little chick, two flowers, a carrot and an Easter egg.  You can see many of them on today's card. 


Here's a close-up of the two inside panels.  Check out the center tulip made with just the dies -- no stamp.


However, you haven't seen my favorite dies on today's card.  There is an Easter Basket die and a die that cuts narrow strips of paper that can be woven through the basket die cut.  It is so cute!  I couldn't fit it on today's card, but I promise, you will see more of that awesomeness when I feature this bundle in a couple of weeks!

THE GIFT OF PEACE ON EARTH

As we get closer to Christmas we start to think about gifts for those we love.  If you are someone that likes to give Gift Cards, then this is a perfect card for you!

If you are someone who likes to send a nice newsy letter with your Christmas Cards, then this is a perfect card for you!

Like Wednesday's card, this is a Fun Fold that has a left and a right flap.  I can't take credit for this design either because I first saw it in the Fall Creativate Retreat that I participated in.  The demonstrator that demonstrated how to make it was my upline, Jackie Bolhuis.  I watch her make it during the retreat and also had her written tutorial.


Jackie is known for keeping her designs simple with nothing messy!  So, when I decided to try to make my card, I expected to have no trouble.  Well, I guess I was doing too much multi-tasking during the retreat because I couldn't figure out how to assemble the little pocket without going back and watching the replay of the retreat video again.

As a result, I thought you might appreciate a video also, so I put one together to show you how to assemble things.  Some things are just easier to "show" than "explain".



My inside Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) which peeks through to the card front when the card is closed, is directional, and getting the "pocket" in the right place while making sure the intended side of my DSP was showing and was directionally "UP" was where I struggled the most.

Hopefully the my explanation and demonstration in the video will help.  


The front focal point is only attached to the left flap.  To make sure my two doves were nicely visible on the white Sentiment die cut I used a sponge dauber to add a tiny bit of Secret Sea ink around the edges of the doves.  One dove brings an envelope and the other brings an olive branch as their gifts. 

Since the PEACE,  LOVE & JOY sentiment is one long stamp, I used masking and stamped in sections to make it fit between my doves.

As we open the left flap, this is what we see.


This piece of DSP contains the pocket for your gift card or letter.  Here is what you see when you open the DSP to the right.


The pocket is on the far right.

In the center of the card you can decorate the layer to your heart's content.  I embossed the Basic White layer with the Peaceful Greenery embossing folder and then layered die cuts for a second greeting.  There is a tiny amount of space left on the die cut to add the name of the recipient and to sign your name.  Remember, I'm tucking in a letter in the pocket so don't need to write a long message.  If you are adding a gift card to the pocket, leave the die cuts blank to have more room to write.  Or decorate the inside with simple layers.  The options are many.

BIRTHDAY WISHES FROM THE SAFARI

This week I will sharing cute cards made with the fun Silly Safari Stamp Set.  This set can be purchased as part of a bundle that includes a 1-7/8" Circle Punch, but it also works well with other circle punches and dies.

I saw this fun fold on a reel by Connie Stewart so I thought I would give it a try.  It was quick and easy to put together.  The most difficult part was deciding which of the adorable little Sill Safari animals I would use.

I decided on the Zebra who I have named Zebo!  While I love coloring, I was a little behind schedule in making my card for the post and I thought Zebo looked great as stamped -- with no additional coloring needed.  

While we typically think of zebra's as black and white, Zebo is stamped with Secret Sea ink,  and I think he looks very handsome and "in-style" dressed in our new In-Color.

The "fun" with this Fun-Fold starts when you open the strip flap that Zebo is "sitting on".


With the flap lifted, you see the front of the narrow card base. The card front is decorated with Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper (DSP) and a little strip of Granny Apple Green cardstock to give a pop of color.  Secret Sea In-Color Flat Pearls are placed in an arc above Zebo's circle.  (Yes, I CASED that idea from Connie Stewart!  Isn't she clever?)

The next step of the Fun Fold is to Open the card base.


Both the front and inside sentiment are from the Silly Safari Stamp Set.  I think this card will make a perfect birthday card for someone that loves a good party, don't you?
