PRETTY FLORALS SUSPENDED BOOK FUN FOLD

Today's Pretty Florals card is a Suspended Book Fun fold.  This is an interesting fold that I first found on a UK Demonstrator's website.  I think her name was JanB and she made this fun fold in a 5" x 7" format.  I wanted to make it in our standard US A2 format (finished size 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"), so with a little trial and error I was able to figure out proportions that I thought looked nice.

The front portion of the card is the "book", and it is suspended on a couple of mechanisms that hold it in space.

I created a video for Learning with Friends that shows you all the steps to make the fun fold.  I know you may think it looks a little complicated, but actually it is very easy!

I used Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper (DSP) to decorate the front of the card base and the mechanisms.

For the "Book" I stamped flowers from Pretty Florals and Die cut them with their coordinating dies.  Colors for the flowers were chosen based on the DSP.  

The sentiment is from Beautiful Motifs stamp set and was die cut with a Stylish Shapes die.  The "pages" of the book were embossed with the Damask Designs Embossing Folder.

Sometimes with fun folds like this it appears that there is no room to write a personal message, but with this Suspended Book Fun fold, the Bubble Bath card base opens like a normal Landscape card.

Continuing with the "keep it simple" theme, I used a flower "scrap" from the DSP to decorate the lower corner?

FEATHERED FRIEND SUSPENDED FUN FOLD

Today's card is a Suspended Book Fun Fold.  I first saw this card on Jan B's website, a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from the UK.  Her card was a 5" X 7" card, but I wanted to make it in our "normal" A2 size.

It took a bit of trial and error, but I finally came up with proportions I liked.

The center section of the fun fold is the "book".  It is suspended on mechanisms that hold the book in space.

I demonstrated a version of this card in my Learning with Friends Video yesterday.  It is probably much easier to understand if you watch the video.

I used designer series paper from the Beautiful Gallery Collection.  The "book" uses one of the scenes from this beautiful DSP.

I added one of the cute little birds from Feathered Fun in the foreground of the scene.  I can imagine him thinking about where he should build his nest in the weatherworn building.

The white die cut stem and the sentiment are from the Beautiful Motifs Bundle.

I'm not sure what type of bird this is.  It could probably be colored to make it a variety of species, but I just wanted him to be cute and colorful so I used Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends.

The front of this card flips open to provide plenty of space on the inside for a Greeting or a personalized note.
