ALONG THESE LINES - LET'S EAT CAKE

Today we are going to enjoy some cake!

I've really been having fun this week with this Along These Lines stamp set.  There are so many different images and I haven't even got to them all yet.  But I do like this tiered cake.

What do you think the flavors of each of these tiers would be?  I used Stampin' Blends to color the cake.  The top layer is Peach Pie.  Is there such a thing as peach cake?  If so I've never had it.  The middle layer was colored with Summer Splash and the Bottom Layer is Petunia Pop.  Now what flavors do you think those would be?

The background is made with the Faux Tile Backsplash Technique that I shared in my Learning with Friends video yesterday, June 5.  I promised during the video to post a card today using this technique.

If you missed the video, you can always watch the replay on YouTube.

Doesn't this Faux Tile Backsplash Technique make a fun background?  I hope you will give it a try.

Since the Along These Lines stamp set does not include sentiments, I searched my stash and found this Happy Birthday stamp in the Unbounded Love Stamp Set.  This is one of our current most versatile greeting stamp sets and the bundle comes with great "tag" dies to use for the sentiments.

I found a couple of more sentiments from Unbounded Love that were perfect for the inside of the card.

To make sure the inside didn't look forgotten I layered Smokey Slate and Summer Splash mats to tie in the colors to the Faux Tile Backsplash on the front of the card.

FRAME THE GALLERY BLOOMS

This flower from Gallery Blooms deserves to be framed!  I'm trying to show you more of the flower stamps this week that are included in this stamp set, but it is difficult because I want to use this one EVERY time.

This flower is very versatile.  You can color the image with various mediums: water color, Stampin' Blends, Watercolor Pencil or whatever your favorite coloring products are.  It is also beautiful as a simple stamped outline image.  Or you can do what I did and heat emboss it on glimmer paper.

I heat embossed with white embossing powder on Peach Pie Glimmer Paper.  I tried, but the photo doesn't adequately capture the sparkle and shine!

If you have never heat embossed on Glimmer Paper and are wondering how that works watch my Learning with Friends video to see just how simple it is.

After embossing, I die cut with the coordinating die and then adhered the flower to an embossed background with dimensionals.

As I indicated at the beginning of this post, this flower is definitely frame worthy.   The Gallery Blooms Bundle includes dies that cut each of the floral stamped images as well as several additional dies that cut various leaves and stems.  But it also includes one large die that cuts two frames at once.  The frame on this card is the larger of the two frames.   Of course, we can make frames using two rectangle dies, but sometimes it is tedious getting all four sides of the frame to be equal width.  This die makes it so simple to get a quick frame where all four sides are equal.

For the inside of the card I again used my "go-to" solution.  It's simple, but at least it doesn't look like the inside has been forgotten.

The colors for today's card were selected based on the florals in Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper.  Sentiments are from the Unbounded Love Bundle.

LET'S MEANDER THROUGH THE MEADOW

Welcome to HODGEPODGE WEEK!  I have decided to try something a little different one week per month.  Rather than featuring a certain stamp set or bundle, I'm going to use a variety of products to show how well so many of Stampin' Up!'s products can be mixed and matched.  At this point the plan is to make the last full week of each month "hodgepodge week".

Today's card uses the Unbounded Love and Painted Lavender Bundles, but the real star of the card is the Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Do you ever struggle choosing a "side" when you go to use your DSP?  Sometimes both sides are so pretty that you just want to show them both off.

This super simple card does just that.  Meandering Meadows DSP is a collection of 6" x 6" beautiful landscape scenes and most have gorgeous watercolor designs on the reverse side.

For this card I trimmed off 3/4" from the bottom of the DSP and then scored the 6" side at 2" from the left edge.  That 2" scored section was then just folded over to create a partial flap which shows off the beautiful opposite side of the paper!

The two die cuts on the 2" flap were made with a Perennial Lavender die and the sentiments were created with the Unbounded Love Bundle.  I love how several of the sentiments in this bundle are coordinated to be used together.

When you open the front flap, you can see the extension of the landscape scene.  A narrow piece of Basic White cardstock provides a place to sign your name and add a little hand-written note.

The Blackberry Bliss stem was stamped with a Perennial Lavender stamp.

What do you think?  Isn't this a simple, but beautiful card?

A list of the currently available products that I used are shown below.  The Night of Navy Ribbon is retired but use any ribbon you have.  There are so many colors in this DSP that the ribbon color choices are numerous.
