SYMPATHY BLOOMS

 The Gallery Blooms Bundle and The Right Words stamp set were used for today's card.

The Gallery Blooms flower stem was heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder and then colored with Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils.   This makes the coloring even easier because the raised image helps keep you in the lines!  😄.  After coloring, a Water Painter was used to blend the pencil color a bit.  

Watercolor Pencils are probably one of the easiest coloring mediums to use, but there are still a few tips and tricks to get the results you want.

The card base and the frame are Smokey Slate cardstock.  


I kept the color palette soft as that feels appropriate for a sympathy card.  


Both sentiments on today's card are from The Right Words Stamp set.  This is an excellent set with a nice variety of thoughtful sentiments.

ANTIQUED NATURE'S SYMPHONY

Today's card took a few twists and turns before I called it "done".  The technique that I planned to use for the background did not work the way I thought it would, so I conducted several experiments and finally ended up with this "antiqued foil".

I used Garden Textures Foil in Blueberry Bushel for the background.  To see how I made this "antiqued foil" watch my video below.

The stamped leaf was stamped with the Nature's Symphony stamp and Blueberry Bushel ink and then die cut with the coordinating die from the bundle.  I die cut a second Blueberry Bushel leaf stem using the detailed large leaf die.


The leaves on the die cut stem were curled slightly before I adhered only the stem to the foil.  Adding a slight curl provides lift to the leaves to make them look more life-like.

The top leaf branch was first stamped with Blueberry Bushel ink and then die cut with the coordinating die.  Again, only the stem was adhered to the die cut leaf.  This allowed me to lift a few of the leaves and intertwine them with the stamped branches.


The designer series paper (DSP) behind the leaves is from the Nature's Walk Collection. This DSP has some very interesting designs, and I love the colors.

The sentiments (front and inside) on this card are from the Prayer's & Promises Stamp Set.  If you are looking for comforting and uplifting sentiments then you need to take a closer look at this set.


There is a smaller leafy stem in the Nature's Symphony stamp set that I stamped twice in the lower left corner before stamping the sentiment next to it.

STRIPES WITH MIXED FLORALS

This week I am going to use an "interesting" stamp set as my featured product of week.  The stamp set is called Stripes & Dots, and it is basically one large stamp that can be "broken" into 4 different sections.  Check it out in the Product List to better understand.

This card uses just one of the pieces of the 4-piece stamp. I stamped the stripes twice (well really 3 times), once horizontally and once vertically to create a "corner plaid".  

The reason I said "well really 3 times" is because the stamp is 4" long, so for the vertical stripes I needed to stamp it twice.   It was very easy to align, but as a HINT...  Have the upper and lower stamped image meet in the area of the "corner plaid".  If they aren't perfectly aligned, you'll never see it, and besides it is also covered by the Mixed Florals.


As I mentioned above, the Stripes and Dots Stamp Set is an interesting stamp set.  It's also a great stamp set to use in combination with other stamps you have.  I chose to use the Mixed Florals stamp as my focal point.  Like most stampers, I have many, many floral stamp sets, but this one really is one of my favorites.  The images are fun to color with my Stampin' Blends and I love that there are coordinating dies.


My coneflowers were colored with Fresh Freesia, and I wanted a really dark purple (like Gorgeous Grape) for the little flowers.  However, I realized Gorgeous Grape isn't available as a Stampin' Blends, so I reached for the retired Orchid Oasis.

The sentiment is from The Right Words and was die cut with an Unbounded Love die--as were the tiny flowers that border the lower right of the scalloped oval die cut.


To complete the inside and the envelop, I simply stamped the same Pool Party Stripes as I used on the card front.  The sentiment is another from The Right Words.  If you haven't checked out this sentiment set you need to.  It was on my wish list when it was gifted to me by a dear friend.  I love it!
