BEE MY BARGELLO VALENTINE

Today's card uses the fun and unique Bargello Technique to create the background.

The Bargello Technique is a needlework or quilting method that uses strips of fabric to create zigzag patterns.  I applied the technique to paper.  Can you see the zigzag pattern above made with the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP)?

If you are not familiar with this technique, you can watch my Learning with Friends video to see how it is done.  It's fun and easy!  If you can cut paper, you can do it!

The Valentine card today is made with the Bee My Valentine stamp set and the Bee Builder Punch.  I'm slowly working on my stash of Valentine's Day card so now I can add one more to the pile.

This card is not the traditional color of Valentine cards, but it certainly is bright and cheerful.  I used the Sale-A-Bration Heart Shaped die cut for the Lemon Lime Twist heart and then added a Bubble Bath heart for the sentiment.

I'm hoping this card will make someone smile when they receive it in the mail.

For the inside of the card I stamped some additional Bubble Bath hearts around the sentiment and added the colorful striped Bright & Beautiful DSP to add a pop of color.

This is a great time to take advantage of the Sale-A-Bration promotion which is well under way.  Sale-A-Bration is the only way to get the die I used from the Heart Shaped Bundle and the Starburst embossing folder that I used on the Lemon Lolly Layer on the card front!

BEE MY VALENTINE

Will you Bee my Valentine?

Today's card gets back to some of the basics of cardmaking -- stamps, ink & paper and a great sketch!

Whenever I'm feeling inspiration challenged, I pull out this card sketch.  The three elements on the card front can be mixed, matched  and moved around in so many ways.  It's also a great layout to show off designer series paper (DSP), but today I grabbed my stamps and ink pads and made my own DSP.

I used the Sketched Plaid background stamp to create the large vertical plaid panel with Summer Splash ink.

The medium size panel was made using flowers and hearts from the Bee My Valentine stamp set stamped in Petunia Pop and Pretty in Pink ink to create an all-over pattern.

And the die cut circle was also stamped with flowers from Bee My Valentine.  They created a home for Buzz the Bee to flutter around while he sends you his wishes of love.

The Basic White background was embossed with the So Swirly embossing folder which seems very fitting for a bumble bee in flight.

The decorative strip on the inside of the card was also stamped with the Sketched Plaid stamp.  I've had this stamp for a while but hadn't used it.  To get the plaid straight when I stamped it, I found it easiest to lay the cling stamp face up and then place the cardstock on the inked imaged.

If you would like more information about the card sketch, watch this Learning with Friends video to see additional cards made with the same "basic" elements.  You'll also see additional cards and will learn just how versatile the sketch is.

MAKE A QUICK & SIMPLE VALENTINE

Valentine's Day is less than a month away, so it is time to get those Valentine Cards made and ready for mailing!

This week am using the BEE MY VALENTINE stamp set and its coordinating punch from the 24-25 annual catalog, but there are also NEW coordinating products that were introduced January 7, 2025, in the Scrapbooking Brochure.  Use this link to access the brochure if you haven't seen it.

The Meant to Bee Scrapbooking Kit includes beautiful Designer Series Paper, Sticker Sheets and Two-Tone Cardstock.  There is also a brand new Meant to Bee Bundle.  You can check out all the details by clicking on the products in the Product List below.  Items can be purchased separately or as a bundle or kit.  Stamp and die bundles offer a 10% savings.  Scrapbook Kit's contain different quantities of some things vs. when purchased separately, so be sure to compare to get what you want.

Today's card is a quick and simple card that could easily be mass produced.  Change the colors to your favorite Valentine Colors.

My card is made with Crushed Curry, Moody Mauve and Lost Lagoon (wings) all on a Very Vanilla card base.

My color combination was not "dreamed up" by me.  It came directly from my Color Coach which is my favorite stamping "tool".  I doubt I ever would have come up with this color combination, but I like it!  Once again my "coach" did not let me down.

For the inside of the card, I stamped a few more Crushed Curry random honeycombs along the edge.

The sentiments are all from the Bee My Valentine stamp set?

If you would like make this card, use this link to download the free tutorial with all the cutting dimensions and step-by-step instructions.

For more information on the products used on my card click on any of the product links below.  I have also included the links to the NEW COORDINATING products from the Scrapbook Brochure.  Love those hexagon dies!  They'd be great for so many things wouldn't they?  As mentioned above, be sure to compare what you get in a kit vs purchasing items separately.
