Friendly Hello Sneak Peak

It's Monday and time for a new featured product of the week!

This week I'm going to share some sneak peeks of an item that will be a Sale-A-Bration choice during the January-February Sale-A-Bration period.  The item includes a Stamp Set and Designer Series Paper Collection called "Friendly Hello".

For today's card I chose to use a combination of the designer series paper and the large two-flower stamp to create my floral bouquet.

The background for the bouquet was made with another sneak peek product from the Spring Mini.  It's a Gingham Embossing Folder.  The colors on the background were created with the Soft Pastels Assortment.  It's been a long time since I've played with Pastels, and I had forgotten how much fun it is.  Many years ago, when Stampin' Up! had pastels, I learned the technique that I used on this card.

First the Basic White cardstock was embossed with the Gingham Embossing Folder.  After embossing, I used a VersaMark Pad to cover the raised areas of the embossing with ink by tapping the pad on the embossed cardstock.  Next I used my sponge daubers to apply the various Pastel colors to the inked areas.  The VersaMark helps to adhere the Pastel material.  Isn't it pretty?  After I finished the background my first thought was "this would make a great background for a baby card!"

The flowers were stamped on Basic White cardstock, colored with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut.  Yes, sadly this Sale-A-Bration item does not have coordinating dies.  Most of the leaves behind the flowers were fussy cut from one of the designer series paper designs that coordinate with this Friendly Hello Stamp Set.  Since I was on a roll with the fussy cutting, I also decided to fussy cut my sentiment.

For more information on this Sale-A-Bration item see the image and information at the bottom of this post.

Since the sentiment "HELLO friend" can be used for any occasion, I decided to leave the inside of my card sentiment free.  I can either add a sentiment later when I decide how I will use the card, or I can just include a handwritten note.

I used the masking technique to stamp this little flower bouquet.  Masking means the image that you want to be in the foreground is stamped first and then covered with a lightweight paper "mask".  In this example, I wanted the flower image to be in the foreground, so I stamped it first.  Once the flowers have their mask on, then the images that you want to look like they are behind the flowers are stamped.  In this case that is the two leaves and the little buds.  All images were colored with Stampin' Blends.

A hint when masking... when you cut out your mask, cut on the lines or slightly inside the lines.  That way when you stamp your images, you will minimize the potential of white gaps between the two images.

If you would like a detailed tutorial with step-by-step directions and cutting dimensions one is available at this link.
