GARDEN MEADOW BRAIDED FUN FOLD

My card today takes full advantage of the beautiful Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper (DSP).  And this particular scene is certainly a meandering meadow.

This card uses the unique Braided Hinge Technique that I demonstrated in my Learning with Friends video yesterday, November 9, 2023.  It did take me a bit to figure out how to make the template needed to create this type of a Fun Fold.  I tried for quite a while to make a template using inches and was not successful.  Creating the template using the metric system was much easier!  But don't worry, if you would like a template, just download the tutorial for this card, and the template is included.  You don't need to worry about measurements at all!

You can also watch the replay of yesterday's Learning with Friends Video to see how to make this Fun Fold.

Once you have the template, if you have a nice sharp scissors and can fold paper, you can make this fun braided hinge.

After creating the Fun Fold Hinge, I die cut the card front with the arch die from Garden Meadow Dies.  This is a fun die that makes "hash marks" on both the inside and outside edge of the cut -- so both sides have a nice, finished look.  I laid the reverse side of this pretty scenic paper on the inside of the card and then popped up my die cut arch on the front with dimensionals.

Look how special this makes the inside of the card look when it is open!

The hinge is pretty on the inside, too, isn't it?  A simple piece of Basic White cardstock on the right side was stamped with the Thinking of You sentiment from the Garden Meadow Stamp set.

To finished off the front of the card I stamped the boots on Shaded Spruce with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then die cut them with the coordinating die.  I used a VersaMark Pen to add some highlights to the boots which I then embossed with clear embossing powder to give them a bit of shine.  The strap and grommet were paper pieced by stamping the boots again on Basic White cardstock and then fussy cutting around the strap and grommet.  The strap was colored with a Pecan Pie Stampin' Blend and the grommet with a Gold Gel pen that I had in my crafting stash.  I did first try just coloring the strap and grommet on the Shaded Spruce Boots, but because of the dark color boots, it didn't show very well. Paper Piecing was my solution as I thought the boots needed a little pop of color.

I also experimented with adding some of the birds and dragonflies that are part of the Meandering Meadows Suite to the card front, but I decided that sometimes less is more.

I hope you have enjoyed Meandering through the Meadow with me this week.  This Suite of Products is so beautiful and has so much variety to offer that I'm sure you will be seeing more of it in the future.  I feel like I have barely skimmed the surface of possibilities.

See the list below for the products used on today's card.
