FLOWERS OF BEAUTY ON LINEN

Welcome back to Hodgepodge week where you are going to see a little of this and a little of that.   Yesterday I shared a card made with the Herringbone Technique, and today's Card has a pretty display of Flowers of Beauty on "linen".  

This card is bright and very cheery.  The colorful display of flowers and leaves were stamped on white tissue paper.  After stamping the tissue paper was crinkled up tightly, smoothed out a little and then adhered to Basic White cardstock.  The result is a technique that looks like linen.

In the video I talk about the similarities between the Faux Linen Technique and the Faux Silk Technique.  Both of those fabrics have a similar trait -- they tend to wrinkle!  Personally, I tend to avoid clothes made with either of these fabric because of the wrinkling.  And don't they usually have to be dry cleaned as well?  But I do think both techniques make pretty backgrounds for cards.  So, I will just stick to putting my "linen" and "silk" on cards.

The colors used for today's Flowers of Beauty are all from the Brights Color Family Collection -- Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green.  For cards where I want to use many colors, I know that if I pick them all from the same family they will coordinate well together.  So, today we celebrate the Bright Family of colors.

I used a stamp from the Shepherd's Care stamp set to add a few black dots.  I could have used any speckles stamp or just used a Black Stampin' Write Marker to splatter some specs but the Shepherd's Care stamp set was laying on my craft table, so it was handy.

For the inside of the card and the envelope I decorated the corner with more Flowers of Beauty.

The one thing on the front of my card that I wasn't really crazy about was the placement of the leaves.  So for the inside and the envelope, I decided to mask the flowers and then stamp the leaves.  By masking I was able to get mostly leaves with minimal stems.  The masking added a step so it was a little more work, but I liked the result better.  What do you think? Stems or minimal stems.

SIDE-STEPPING A SPLENDID AUTUMN COUNTRY BIRDHOUSE

Hi, my name is Chirp, and today Pat is letting me tell you all about my house in the Autumn Woods.

But first I want you to know that I'm not sure what kind of bird I am because I don't see any birds here in Michigan that look exactly light me.  I think I must be a mixture of a bunch of different kinds of birds, but I don't care because I like my colors, and they match my house.

I love my bright, cheery, Crushed  Curry house with Cajun Craze trim and a Mossy Meadow Roof.  It is made out of Birch Wood which is highlighted with White Craft ink.  Isn't it pretty?

My house sits on a little hill right on the edge of a Splendid Autumn woods that is at the peak of the color season here in MIchigan.  

Since it is Autumn, most of the flowers here in Michigan are looking a little peaked, but I managed to find a few to decorate my porch.

And if you look out my back window you will see this sign hanging in my back yard.

I really like this sign because it makes me sing every time I see it.

BEE MY VALENTINE BRAIDS

I hope you had a Blessed Thanksgiving Day yesterday.

Today, I'm sharing my last sneak peek for this week with the BEE MINE Suite Collection.

Two weeks ago on my Learning With Friends video I shared the Braiding Technique.  The Braiding Technique is often used for the "fold" part of the card like in the Christmas card at this link.   But today's fun Valentine's Day Card shows an alternative way to use the braiding technique to provide an accent on the front of your card.

Here the braid runs down the center of the Petal Pink Panel.  If you missed the Leaning with Friends video where I demonstrated how to do braiding, you can watch the replay here.

Let me introduce you to Petal Polly.  She's so exciting to be here today that she is flitting all over the place as you can see by the "bee trail" that's she has left in her wake.  She's so happy that she just sparkles everywhere.  She thinks it is her sparkling personality, but don't tell her that I gave her some assistance with a little Wink of Stella!

She also brought several friends with her to send her Valentines's Day wishes of happiness.  Some are flying quietly on the pretty designer series paper, and she found some golden friends in a retired stash of embellishments!  She didn't want to leave them behind so she insisted they be included.

Petal Polly also said she absolutely needed to buzz by on the inside of the card because she wasn't finished telling you how much you mean to her.

She wanted to make sure that you knew you make her heart buzz!
