DRESSED AND READY FOR EASTER

Today we are meeting the Duck Family.  Momma Duck is Hattie and her little one is Harvey.  They are looking forward to Easter and are all dressed up and ready for church.

Their Split Card design adds a little unexpected fun and interest to the card.  If you would like to make a Split Card download this tutorial to learn a trick to make the cutting of the card and the DSP at the same angle easy!

Hattie and Harvey look like they are having a nice chat don't they?  I wonder what they are talking about.  Maybe they are thinking that Mable the Butterfly looks like lunch!  I hope not, but Hattie does seem to have her eye on it!

All the elements on this card are punch outs from the Storybook Memories Designer Series Paper (DSP)  The fence started out as a white picket fence, but I decided to "paint it" with Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie ink.  The Thoughtful Expressions die cut background and the fence were colored with Blending Brushes.

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from a retired stamp set called Blessed Easter.  I don't have a lot of Easter sentiments so I tend to keep the old sets that I have.

The flowers are also punch outs from the Storybook Memories DSP.  I never thought I'd like punch out elements so much until I bought these!

EASTER STORYBOOK FRIENDS

This week I will be featuring the Storybook Friends Bundle and the beautiful designer series paper that is in the Mega Suite.

Our Storybook friends that we are visiting with today are the Foxx Family.  Molly and Mel are all dressed up in their Easter finest and Mel has picked some flowers from their flower patch for Molly.

This diagonal slice card layout is one of my favorites, and I shared how to make it on last week's Learning with Friends Video.  If you missed the video, you can still catch the replay.

This diagonal card layout isn't as versatile as some, but there is something about that diagonal stripe that just speaks to me!  Molly and Mel are on a die cut made with a Thoughtful Expressions die, but you can use any shape you like for your focal point on the diagonal.

The diagonal is made with one of the designs from Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the background is from Storybook Memories DSP.  I chose them because the background matched Molly's cape and hat and the plaid matched Mel's vest and top hat.

Molly, Mel and their flowers are from the Storybook Memories DSP.  This DSP collection includes two sheets that have figures that you can punch out.  While I love stamping and coloring my images, these punch-outs make your handmade card creations so quick and easy.

They make quite the handsome couple in their Easter duds, don't they?

I used a strip of the Timeless Plaid DSP to decorate the inside of my card as well as the flap on the envelope.  My favorite Easter sentiment "He is not here but is Risen" has been retired forever.  This was one of the first stamps I purchased after becoming a demonstrator 18 years ago.  It is so old it is wood mounted, but its message will never grow old!

O CHRISTMAS TREE! O CHRISTMAS TREE!

I have another fun fold card for you today that uses the Decorative Trees Bundle.  I have no idea what the official name of this Fun Fold is, but I'm calling it a Side Box Fun Fold.

I gave it that name because the left side of the card actually opens to a box shape allowing the tree panel to pop up.

This gives the card a little bit of WOW when it is opened!  It also provides a nice sturdy base for displaying the card.  The designer series paper (DSP) is from the Sentimental Christmas Collection.

I showed how to make this fun fold last week on my Learning with Friends Video Series.  If you missed it, you can still watch the replay.

The Thoughtful Expressions "medallion" that the tree is sitting on is made with two layers of beautiful Specialty Paper that adds some shimmer & shine and elegance to the card.  It is called Oxidized Copper, and I thought it worked nicely with the more country feel of the Sentimental Christmas DSP.

To keep the copper theme going I decorated the tree with Copper Foil trim that was die cut using more dies from the Decorative Trees Bundle.  Copper Sequins from Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins add even a bit more bling!

When the card is opened, the sentiment is revealed on a second Thoughtful Expressions medallion assembly that was hidden behind the medallion on the card front.

INSPIRATIONAL COLORS OF NATURE

Welcome to the SHARE IT SUNDAY Blog Hop!

This Blog Hop is sponsored by Crafty Collaborations the last Sunday of each month.  I like it because I can share just share whatever it is I have been working on.

This week is also Hodgepodge Week at Fairless Stampin' Flair, so rather than sharing projects using the same product all week, I will be sharing cards using a variety of products.

Today's card was made with the Inspirational Sketches stamp set and the Salted Background Technique.

I demonstrated this technique on Learning with Friends several weeks ago.  It's fun and easy while providing very interesting and unique backgrounds.  If you missed the video, you can still watch the replay.

Once the background was created, the rest of this card probably needs no explanation!

The color combination is Pretty Peacock, Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie.  The effect of the Salted Background shows up beautifully on these darker colors.

And isn't the little bird from Inspirational Sketches adorable?  He's cute even without any additional coloring -- just stamped.  The detail and the depth that Distinktive Stamp Sets like this provide is amazing.

When I create "Technique Sheets" like the Salted Background I typically make them larger than the desired finished size.  This allows me to have some extra scrap strips when I trim them to size -- which I can use to add a little pizzaz to the inside.

For all the details of today's card you can use this link to download a FREE TUTORIAL.

A list of products used is shown below.

Now, it is time for you to hop along and see what other members of the Crafty Collaborations group has created to share with you today!  You will be inspired!  Enjoy the HOP!
