BIRDS IN FLIGHT

This Marvelous Nature stamp set was one of the first stamps to catch my eye in the 23-24 Annual Catalog.  My first thought when I saw it was that this would be a great stamp set to use for different techniques.

The set includes two large stamps plus sentiments and today I'm playing with the birds.  After playing with both stamps, it's hard to decide which is my favorite.   I love how the images "hang-off" the backgrounds.  It's something a little unique and different from other stamps I have.

I stamped the birds on Starry Sky cardstock with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder.  I trimmed around the white embossing powder and then adhered it to a Starry Sky piece of cardstock.  I kept the Starry Sky border narrow as I wanted the wings to hang over the edge.  Trimming the image is super simple because you are mainly just cutting a straight line.

To add a little glimmer and shimmer I added two strips of Soft Glimmer Specialty Paper.  I used Lost Lagoon and Berry Burst.  My color coach didn't tell me that Starry Sky, Lost Lagoon and Berry Burst coordinated, but I liked it, so I went off on my own and ignored the coach.  What do you think?  Do these colors work together?

I wanted a circle for my sentiment, but the Lots of Love sentiment was all on one line and too long to fit on my circle.  So, I used masking for the sentiment to turn it into two lines.  A double bow made from Starry Sky Metallic Ribbon kept the glimmer and shimmer going.  This ribbon is only about 1/8" wide, but because it is woven metallic, it is easy to pull it apart a bit and make it wider.

The inside was decorated with a couple more strips of the Soft Glimmer cardstock.
