SILK BIRDS IN FLIGHT

I think I'm Lost in the Lagoon this week!  As I looked back over this week's cards, I realized that 3 of the 4 cards used Lost Lagoon as one of the colors.

The background for this card uses Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper which is definitely one of my favorite current DSP collections.

Don't forget that TODAY is the last day of the Designer Series Paper sale.

You can use this link to see a complete list of the collections that are on sale, or you can also go to this previous post that has images/links of all the DSP that is on sale.

The technique used to create the focal point for today's card is called Faux Silk.  It definitely lends a softness to a card.  After you complete the stamping, it is covered with crinkled up tissue paper.  To learn how to do this technique watch this Learning with Friends video that I shared on my YouTube Channel.

This technique is extremely easy to do and unlike some of my favorite techniques, this one is NOT messy!  I do feel that it works best with darker and/or bright colors because when the tissue paper is added over the image it softens the colors.  The colors on my Silk Birds in Flight are Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon and Pool Party, and by adding the tissue paper over them I think it gives the illusion that they are flying through the fog.

There are additional card samples with this technique shared in the video, so I hope you will take a look.

For the inside of the card, I used sponge daubers with the same colors to highlight just one of the birds.

If you compare the image on the inside with the Faux Silk image on the card front, you can see how the Faux Silk Technique softens the colors.

I hope you will watch the video, but if you like a written tutorial with all the dimensions and step-by-step directions, you can download a copy by using this link.

A list of products used for the card is shown below.  You will also need white tissue paper and a glue stick for the Faux Silk technique.
