PLANTED PARADISE SPLIT FRONT CARD

This week I will be featuring a new stamp set from the 2024 Jan - April Mini Catalog.  It is called Planted Paradise.

This stamp set was a gift from Stampin' Up! to all Demonstrators who participated in the Virtual OnStage event last November.  This is not a style of set that I am normally drawn to.  It has lots and lots of different "plant pieces", mainly different leaves and a couple images I would call "twigs".  I always feel a bit overwhelmed when there are so many stamps to choose from!  But I am challenging myself this year to work a little more outside of my comfort zone, and this set is one of those.

It is also a reversible stamp set which means there are images on both sides of each photopolymer stamp.

The card front was made using a "split front" which adds a bit of interest by letting a different designer paper peak through the split.  Both paper designs are from the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper.  I used a die from Basic Borders to create my "split".

The Calypso Coral pot of leaves was made using the masking technique.  I stamped the pot first on Basic White and then stamped it again on copy paper which trimmed around the top edges to create my mask.  The mask was then laid over the pot and the Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral leaves were stamped.  Once those leaves were stamped the mask was removed and the Pretty Peacock leaves were stamped.  So easy and no fussy cutting required.

The inside of the card was also kept simple by using my "go-to-choice" of adding a strip of DSP on the card.
