LET'S TAKE A SUNSET SAIL

Today's card is the type of card I really enjoy making--cards with beautiful outdoor scenes.

Wouldn't you just love to sit on the beach or maybe your deck and look out and see this at sunset?

This Sunset scene was made using the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  This is an Online Exclusive Product that was introduced this month, and I knew as soon as I saw it that it had my name written all over it!

The sunset on the horizon was made with masks and Blending Brushes.  I masked the sun with a 3" circle and tucked the circle under a piece of lightweight copy paper to mask the horizon line.  Then I got my blending brushes and ink and started creating the sky and the glow around the sun.  When that was complete I removed the circle mask and replaced it with the negative portion (hole) of the mask and used my Blending Brush to color the sun dipping below the horizon.

Next, I moved the horizon mask up to cover the sky and used Blending Brushes again to create the reflection in the water.

After the blending was complete, the ripples in the water and the horizon line were stamped with a stamp from the Sunrise Sailing stamp set as were the birds.

The Sunrise Sailing Dies includes these two smaller sailboats which were quick to die cut and adhere to the scene with dimensionals.

For detailed step-by-step instructions download this PDF Tutorial.

There are a couple of "wave" dies included in the bundle.  For the inside of the card I used one of them to create the wave at the bottom.  A few stamped birds completed the inside.  I can always add a greeting later or write a hand written note when I determine how the card will be used.

LINKED TOGETHER WITH DIAMONDS

Today's card shows off all the dies from Linked Together Dies that we did not use on Monday's card.

I love these large diamonds!  And a nice size oval is always useful.

I used two of the Linked Together Decorative Masks to create the upper right patterned diamond.  Colors used were Soft Sea Foam and Summer Splash.

The diamond on the left was die cut with the Summer Splash pattern from Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper.  Since I can never resist a little sparkle, the lower diamond was die cut from Summer Splash Glimmer Paper.

The sentiment was stamped on Basic White and Die cut with the Oval Die from Linked Together.  A very tiny bit of Summer Splash ink was applied over the sentiment with a Blending Brush.  This was done to provide a little softness as the Basic White looked a little stark.  You barely see the Summer Splash, but it was just enough to soften the look.

The flowers were die cut from Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo scraps, and the two leafy stems were die cut from Soft Sea Foam.   I had positioned the sentiment a little above center on the oval so I had plenty of room to adhere the flowers and stems to the Oval.

The Basic White layer on the card front was embossed with the Cane Weave embossing folder and provided some needed texture.

I also used Partial Embossing to emboss 3/4" of the inside Basic White message layer.  A scrap strip of Unbounded Beauty DSP was adhered next to the embossed surface.  These are both quick and simple ways to dress up the inside of your card.

AZURE WILDFLOWERS

It's a new week and the last Sunday of the month!  That means I have a new featured Bundle for the week, Wildflower Designs, but it is also the day for the Crafty Collaborations Share it Sunday Blog Hop!

For this blog hop, there are no "rules".  We can just share whatever we have been creating.

If you have been following me, you know that I share a Technique each week during my Learning with Friends video series.  This card was made with the Waxed Paper Resist Technique that I shared recently.  If you are unfamiliar with this technique use the link below to watch the video on YouTube.  It is a fun and easy technique that can be done with various types of cardstock, Basic White, Photo Paper or Glossy Cardstock.  The video will show samples of each, and one of the cool things about this technique is that it makes two backgrounds at the same time!  Also, depending on the type of "paper" you use, the color will look a little different.  I show all 3 types of cardstock on one card, so you will be able to easily compare them.

Today's card uses the Dashing Designs Embossing Folder (one of my new favorites) and Photo Paper.

I wanted to showcase the technique with this card, so kept the focal point relatively simple.  It uses two of the "frame" dies from Wildflower Designs to provide a home for the simple flower.

For additional shimmer and shine the beautiful Iridescent Striped Ribbon was wrapped around the scalloped frame and tied in a bow.

After trimming my oversized technique sheet to size I used the leftover strip to add a bit a pizzaz to the inside of the card.

A list of Stampin' Up! products used on today's card is shown below.  I used HP Photo Paper for my Waxed Paper Resist Technique, but as you see in the video experiment with whatever cardstock or paper you have!
