DECORATIVE TREES VARIETY

This week let's decorate our Christmas trees!  I will be using the fun Decorative Trees Bundle this week.  When I first saw it in the Fall Mini catalog last summer, I didn't think I needed another Christmas Tree set, but then I saw the die cuts for this bundle at a retreat I attended in August.  And that totally changed my mind!

This bundle has multiple decorative dies to put on your solid tree die cut, and I'm going to show them ALL to you today.  We made this simple little fun fold card at my Christmas Card Stamp a Stack in October, and since we were creating a "stack" of Christmas cards, the attendees made one card with each of the trees.  This first one uses the plaid die cut.

Before I show you the other three cards, let's look at the fun fold a little closer.  It is basically comprised of a card within a card and is a vertical version of a Joy Fold.  The smaller card in the center overlaps the fold of the larger card at the bottom.

First the small card opens and then the lower part of the larger card opens.  Super quick & simple to make.  The designer series paper (DSP) is the Take a Bow 6" x 6" DSP, and every piece of a 6" x 6" piece was used to make one card -- including the decorative strip on the envelope flap!

For all the details on this Fun Fold, here is a tutorial that you download.  It includes a cutting diagram to maximize the use of a 6" x 6" piece of DSP.

Now here are the rest of the tree design die cuts.

Here is the "striped" version.

Here is the version I call a Charlie Brown Tree.

And maybe my favorite -- the snowflake tree.

Which is your favorite?  They are all so cute aren't they?  The die set includes a die that cuts out 6 bows at once, so each tree got 6 little Real Red Bows.

Since the Take a Bow DSP has 4 different double-sided patterns, I used a different DSP pattern for each card which shows off all 8 of the different patterns.  The Basic White background behind the trees was embossed with the Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder.

Listed below are the supplies for each card.  A tiny double bow was made with Real Red & white Bakers Twine.

FRIDAY FUN FOLD VALENTINE

A Joy Fold is one of my favorite folds.  It is extremely quick and simple and is a great design to use all that pretty designer series paper that we have.

The Joy Fold is a card within a card.  The larger card base and the smaller "Joy" fold intertwine.

This card uses the Most Adored Sale-A-Bration designer series paper (DSP).  You can choose this pretty paper for free with a $50 merchandise order.

While this DSP is certainly a great option for Valentine Cards, it is far from being a Valentine only paper.  In fact, I think only 2 or 3 of the patterns have hearts.  There are flowers, swirls, plaids and much more, and one side of each pattern includes gold foil patterns.  It is a beautiful Specialty Paper!

Since I am sharing Valentine inspiration this week, I did use two of the hearts patterns -- the small Gold Foil hearts on the card front and the larger Flirty Flamingo Hearts on the inside of the large card base.

I combined this pretty DSP with the Country Bouquet Stamp Set and Punch.  The hearts on the front and the sentiments are from that stamp set in the Annual Catalog.

The two-step large heart was stamped with Real Red and Granny Apple Green ink, and it makes a beautiful floral focal point image.

When you open the small card front to the right and the red plaid flap to the left, the inside of the small card is revealed.

I added a strip of the same gold foil heart DSP as was used on the front of the small card.

I hope you have enjoyed the Valentine Inspiration this week.  Be sure to download the FREE TUTORIAL and make a special Valentine for someone you love.  There is still time!

SAIL THE OCEAN

I know that there are still a couple of weeks of summer left, but since today is Labor Day, it always seems like the official beginning of Fall.  However, I'm not giving up so easily on summer! So, this week, I'm featuring the Oceanfront Stamp Set.  I want at least one more week of enjoying all things water and what better way to do that than with a Stamp Set called Oceanfront.

Today's card uses an old favorite Fun-Fold called a Joy Fold.  This is a super easy fun-fold, and today's card combines the Oceanfront and Let's Set Sail Stamp Sets with the Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper.

I could celebrate Labor Day, but since I don't really have any Labor Day traditions, I'm just going to celebrate that it is still "officially" summer with a sail on the ocean!  How do you celebrate Labor Day?  Do you have Labor Day Traditions?

A Joy Fold card is basically made up of two separate simple cards.  The large Thick Basic White base card is made with a 1/2-flap on the front.  I thought these two Pacific Point patterns from the Celebrate Everything DSP were a bit nautical -- or at least could be made to work with a nautically themed card.  The inside of the large base is covered with the Chevron Design and the 1/2-flap is covered with the Checked Design.  Both are matted on Pacific Point.

The Small card is made with Pacific Point cardstock and measures 3" x 8-1/2" and is scored at 4-1/4".  The fold of the small card is on the right and basically interweaves with large card base.

The scene on the front of the small card was made with stamps from the Oceanfront Stamp Set.  The water, made with Pacific Point ink, was stamped-off several times so it was not so dark.  The sky is stamped with Petal Pink.

I chose the sentiment, "faith over fear" from Charming Sentiments because for me to go sailing on the ocean in a little sailboat boat like this, I would need a LOT of Faith to conquer my Fear!  My personal opinion is that the larger the body of water, the bigger the boat needs to be!  LOL

Actually, I do love this sentiment.  There is so much in life where we need to rely on our faith to conquer our fears.

For the inside, I added another sentiment from Charming Sentiments.  I thought it seemed appropriate to pair with the Faith over Fear sentiment.
