This week I will be featuring the Storybook Friends Bundle and the beautiful designer series paper that is in the Mega Suite.
Our Storybook friends that we are visiting with today are the Foxx Family. Molly and Mel are all dressed up in their Easter finest and Mel has picked some flowers from their flower patch for Molly.
This diagonal slice card layout is one of my favorites, and I shared how to make it on last week's Learning with Friends Video. If you missed the video, you can still catch the replay.
This diagonal card layout isn't as versatile as some, but there is something about that diagonal stripe that just speaks to me! Molly and Mel are on a die cut made with a Thoughtful Expressions die, but you can use any shape you like for your focal point on the diagonal.
The diagonal is made with one of the designs from Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the background is from Storybook Memories DSP. I chose them because the background matched Molly's cape and hat and the plaid matched Mel's vest and top hat.
Molly, Mel and their flowers are from the Storybook Memories DSP. This DSP collection includes two sheets that have figures that you can punch out. While I love stamping and coloring my images, these punch-outs make your handmade card creations so quick and easy.
They make quite the handsome couple in their Easter duds, don't they?
I used a strip of the Timeless Plaid DSP to decorate the inside of my card as well as the flap on the envelope. My favorite Easter sentiment "He is not here but is Risen" has been retired forever. This was one of the first stamps I purchased after becoming a demonstrator 18 years ago. It is so old it is wood mounted, but its message will never grow old!
For today I decided to combine another new set that I just received. It is the Everyday Arches Bundle which was introduced as an ONLINE EXCLUSIVE in January. I have not used the Everyday Arches Stamp Set on this card--only the dies, but the bundle part of a beautiful suite that also includes this gorgeous Everyday Skies 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP).
This card uses one of my GO-TO card sketches. I featured this layout in my Template Time Learning with Friends video yesterday. This is my Sketch.
The circular shape on the sketch can be changed to any shape and obviously the width of the diagonal strip can be changed to better suit the focal point you choose.
If you missed yesterday's Learning with Friends watch the replay to see some additional examples of this card layout--and also some important assembly tips.
I have used this layout more times than I can count, but I never get tired of it. It is not as versatile as some of my card sketches, but there is something about that diagonal element that just "speaks" to me.
I hope you like it too and will give it a try. Be sure to watch the video for those important hints to make assembly easy.
My arched focal point was made by first cutting a piece of the Everyday Skies Designer Series Paper with an arched die from Everyday Arches. Then I adhered the Night of Navy lattice die cut made with the Linked Together die to the DSP and snipped off the areas that protruded.
The Moody Mauve Arch window frame was made by die cutting with two Everyday Arches dies laid one inside of the other. Doesn't it give a pretty view of the beautiful sky though our window?
To finish the inside of the card I just adhered a couple of the DSP strips that were left over from the card front. Adding DSP strips to the message layer and then matting it to a coordinating cardstock color is a simple way to bring the inside of your card to life. It's quick and easy, but more importantly, it doesn't look like it has been forgotten.
Today's card shows off all the dies from Linked Together Dies that we did not use on Monday's card.
I love these large diamonds! And a nice size oval is always useful.
I used two of the Linked Together Decorative Masks to create the upper right patterned diamond. Colors used were Soft Sea Foam and Summer Splash.
The diamond on the left was die cut with the Summer Splash pattern from Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper. Since I can never resist a little sparkle, the lower diamond was die cut from Summer Splash Glimmer Paper.
The sentiment was stamped on Basic White and Die cut with the Oval Die from Linked Together. A very tiny bit of Summer Splash ink was applied over the sentiment with a Blending Brush. This was done to provide a little softness as the Basic White looked a little stark. You barely see the Summer Splash, but it was just enough to soften the look.
The flowers were die cut from Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo scraps, and the two leafy stems were die cut from Soft Sea Foam. I had positioned the sentiment a little above center on the oval so I had plenty of room to adhere the flowers and stems to the Oval.
The Basic White layer on the card front was embossed with the Cane Weave embossing folder and provided some needed texture.
I also used Partial Embossing to emboss 3/4" of the inside Basic White message layer. A scrap strip of Unbounded Beauty DSP was adhered next to the embossed surface. These are both quick and simple ways to dress up the inside of your card.
