HEARTFELT HEXAGON CENTER POP-OUT FUN FOLD

The Fun Fold card I'm sharing today was one of the projects shared by Jacking Bolhuis, my upline, at the Winter Creativate Retreat.

I finally got around to trying it!

There is more going on with this card than first meets the eye.  So, I have more photos than usual to help you understand all the FUN!

The card is basically a gatefold card with a surprise inside.  To hold the gates closed it has a belly band.

I've used the Nature's Sweetness Designer Series Paper from the January - April Mini Catalog, which is gorgeous!  It is a specialty paper with lots of gold!

The focal point on my belly band includes a Nested Essentials Die Cut that has been embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.  The Heartfelt Hexagon frame was first embossed with gold Embossing Powder and then the sentiment was stamped inside the frame and also embossed with gold embossing powder.  Before assembling the punched hexagon to the Nested Essentials, the die cut was wrapped twice with gold Simply Elegant Trim and tied in a big floppy bow.

Now for the surprise!

When the gates are opened the sentiment Pop-Out presents itself.

The scored "hinge" at the center of the card allows the card to slightly fold reward at the center and then the sentiment pops forward.  But this also allows the card to fold flat for mailing.

Sill confused?  Use this link to download a PDF tutorial with all the cutting and scoring dimensions as well as step-by-step directions on how to assemble everything.

Maybe you are wondering where you will sign your card or write a short message.  Easy Solution... use the back of the card.

You just need to split the two panels so that the center portion of the fun fold will still bend.

I'll admit, I was a little intimidated by this fun fold when I first saw it, but if you just take it step by step, is so much easier than it looks.

HEXAGON DAISIES

Today's card is really all about the Heartfelt Hexagon punch and making the most of it to create this pretty birthday card.

Usually when we think of punches the first thing that comes to mind is that they are a quick and easy tool to use for our sentiments.  But some punch shapes also work well to step up your background just a bit.

I could have just put a piece of this pretty Fresh as a Daisy designer series paper on my card front, but since this hexagon shape nests nicely together, I punched out several of the hexagon shapes and laid them out so there was a small Pebbled Path border around each.  This is still quick and simple, but it also creates a little more interest that a solid piece of designer paper.

Once that step was completed all that was needed was a sentiment.  I chose this vertically oriented sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagons because that also added just a little more interest to the composition of the card.

Add a bit of ribbon and some Iridescent Rhinestones and the card is complete -- well except for the inside.

Remember, I am a firm believer that the inside of a card should never feel left out or forgotten.

I punched 3 more hexagons from the same Fresh as a Daisy designer series paper and added them along the bottom of the Basic White cardstock.  The little flourish stamp, stamped with Crushed Curry ink adds the finishing touch.  Or as my Mom would have said, "It just does something to it!"

LET'S EAT CAKE!

Everyone who looks at today's blog post receives a piece of cake from me.  APRIL FOOLS!

If I could, I would love to share some cake with you, but since that isn't logistically feasible, let's just think about eating cake.

This card started out as a monochromatic card for my Coffee Clubs April challenge, but as it progressed, I'm not sure it truly qualifies a monochromatic.  There are actually 3 colors (not counting the white) in this card:  Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight, and either Soft Sea Foam or Pool Party.  I'm not really sure what the bluish-green color is.

The designer series paper (DSP) is called Hello, Irresistible.  It is an Online Exclusive that, thankfully, has been around for a while.  It is one of my favorites with beautiful soft colors.  Based on the colors listed on the packaging, it indicates Soft Sea Foam is one of the colors and there is no mention of Pool Party, so that blueish-green color is most likely Soft Sea Foam.

When I want to create a card that shows off multiple patterns of DSP, and if I am in a hurry or having a brain freeze, this is often the layout that I gravitate towards.  The three main elements can be placed in many different location combinations which makes the layout very versatile.

For all the measurements, refer to the PDF Tutorial available at this link.  This layout can be used in portrait or landscape orientation.  You can also change the shape of the sentiment or eliminate it all together and use one of the main three elements for your sentiment.  There are so many different ways to mix and match up these main elements.

Since we are eating cake, I thought there needed to be a cake somewhere on this card, so, I used the little cake from Hooray for Surprises for the inside of the card.  I also used the birthday day sentiment from Hooray for Surprises and was happy that it fit perfectly in the Heartfelt Hexagon Border that I used for the front.  I like to make it look like the inside of my cards are an extension of the front, so, using a strip of the one of the DSP designs that was used on the front also helps tie the two together.

A list of the products used is shown below.  Sometimes I will use retired ribbon or embellishments as I like to use what I have.  I hope you do the same.  These products are easy to interchange with what you have!  We bought them because we liked them, right?  So, so let's use them!

LET'S GO FISHING ON SHARE IT SUNDAY

Happy Easter Stamping Friends!

Today is the Crafty Collaborations Share it Sunday Blog Hop.  If you are hopping along with us today, or catching up after the Holiday, Welcome.

All this week I will be featuring the Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle from the January - April Spring Mini Catalog.  This bundle is on the Last Chance Sale, but the individual stamp set and punch will continue to be available -- just not at the 10% savings Bundle Pricing.  As you will see this week, it is a very versatile bundle which can be used to make quick and easy cards.

My card today features the Let's Go Fishing designer series paper and a special technique called Embossed Embossing.  If you aren't familiar with the technique, you can watch my Learning with Friends video to see how quick and simple it is.

As I mention in the video, I used the "reverse side" of the Cane Weave embossing folder for the technique.  By "reverse" side, I mean using the side opposite from the Stampin' Up! logo.

The Boho Blue mat behind the sentiment was made by punching a hexagon with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch and then cutting it in half and separating the two pieces slighting to create a little border.

Everything else is very basic with this card.  The designer series paper (DSP) really does the rest of the work.  The Wavy Trim is also on the Last Chance List for 10% off the regular Price.  The Last Chance Sale starts on April 9, so if you like this trim, stock up before it is gone forever.

To see more details about this card you can download the free PDF tutorial by using this link.

I used the same Let's Go Fishing DSP to add some color to the inside of the card.

The sentiment is from Go to Greetings.  This truly is one of my "go-to" stamp sets, and I love the simple versatility and beautiful fonts.  I will miss it, as it is also on the Last Chance list.

For more information or to purchase any of the products used, click on any of the images below, and you will be taken to my Stampin' Up! store.

Now, if you are ready for some more awesome creativity, hop along with these amazing demonstrators to see what they are sharing on this Easter Sunday.
