MORE BUTTERFLY BRILLIANCE AND TOILET PAPER

A couple of weeks ago on Connect to Create I shared a Technique that Embossed Toilet Paper.  I had never done this technique before making that video and had so much fun practicing that I got a little carried away.

As a result, I have many leftover toilet paper embossed backgrounds, so I thought I would try to use one of them today.

While practicing the technique, I used the two Elegant Eucalyptus embossing folders, and this is one of them.  After I glued a section of the embossed TP to a die cut circle, I trimmed the toilet paper around the circle. I then made a scalloped frame from Soft Succulent cardstock using the Layering Circle Dies and adhered it with liquid adhesive to the top of the TP.

These Layering Circle Dies are also on the Last Chance List, and I am so sad to see them go!  They have been one of my go-to products for years!

The butterfly from Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set was stamped with Black Memento ink on Basic White cardstock and then colored with Pale Papaya Stampin' Blends.

To decorate the front of the Soft Succulent card base, I used some 2021 - 2023 In-Color Designer Series Paper that I had in my stash.  We are also saying goodbye to the 21-22 In-Colors -- except for Fresh Freesia which is joining the Subtles Color Family as a permanent member.

It is always sad to say goodbye to some of our favorite products, but it is also exciting to see what new things we are going to be able to play with.

The sentiment on today's card is from the Flowering Tulips stamp set, another set on the Last Chance List.  I chose it because of its versatility and the fact that it fit perfectly in the circle that I wanted to use.  I liked how the two circles, and the butterfly completed my design triangle.

But I sort of felt like my butterfly needed a little something to draw the eye to him.  The two "tails" of Pale Papaya Faux Velvet Trim seemed to help do that.  What do you think?

For the inside of the card, I stamped one of the other butterflies on the Butterfly Brilliance stamp and also colored him with Pale Papaya ink.

The single Butterfly Brilliance Stamp is comprised of 6 different butterflies in assorted sizes.  The Brilliant Wings Dies includes one die that will cut out all 6 of the butterflies at once, as well as several individual dies that die-cut more detailed butterflies.  Click on the image in the Product List below to see more information on the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set and coordinating Brilliant Wings dies.

A SINGLE RED HEART

A single red rose is of great significance to me as it has always been a "silent" way to say, "I love you".

Today's card pays homage to that special meaning.

In reality the rose on my stem isn't a rose, but it is a single Sweet Sorbet heart.  Hearts are symbols of love, and so I put it on a single Mint Macaron Stem to turn it into my symbol of love.

The delicate corner die cut was made with one of the dies from Artisan Additions Dies and was cut from another of the patterns in the Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP).  You can see the uncut version of the DSP design on the flap of my envelope.

The petal pink background was embossed with the Splatters Embossing Folder from Stripes and Splatters.  The multiple mat layers make the Single Stem Heart pop as they bring your eye to the focal point.

The With Love sentiment was stamped with Evening Evergreen ink and die cut with a Beautiful Shapes Die.  Three Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls add a bit of elegance to the card front.  If you have missed these pearls, you need to check them out.  They are not called iridescent in the Mini Catalog, but in person, they definitely have iridescence.  So beautiful and honestly, they were just what this card needed as a finishing touch!

The same DSP die-cut and matting was used to decorate the inside of the card.  With the placed on the Basic White rather than Petal Pink card stock you can more clearly see the beautiful details of this die-cut.

CANALS OF THE NETHRLANDS

Several years ago, I was fortunate to visit the Netherlands for work.  While work trips rarely provide time for sightseeing, we did have to travel by car from Amsterdam to Eindhoven-- about an hour and a half drive.  So, this provided an opportunity to see some of the countryside.  We know the Netherlands is known for their canals, windmills, and tulips.  And while I don't remember seeing a lot of tulips, we did see canals and windmills.

For today's card, I wanted to try to capture that bit of the Netherlands, so I started searching pictures for inspiration.

This is the card I came up with.

Here is the photo I used as my inspiration.

Today's card uses the two interesting V-shaped stamps from the Tulip Fields Stamp Set to create the field of tulips.

I started at the horizon with the double-V stamp and Mango Melody ink.  I then worked my way down each side towards the center, Flirty Flamingo bed of tulips.

There was a fair amount of masking required to create the canal and the left riverbank.  To make the mask, I sketched my scene on a piece of scrap paper and then tore it to make each mask section.

The water in the canal and the grassy bank were created using Blending Brushes.  Little ripples in the water were created with a white gel pen and Wink of Stella.

The sky was created with designer series paper from the Flowering Fields Collection.  Using DSP for the sky also helped to create a nice straight horizon line for the cute little fence.

The two windmills were colored with Crumb Cake and Real Red Stampin' Blends and two trees were added on the left bank.

A third windmill was stamped on the inside of the card and colored to match the front.  A little hill of Daffodil Delight flowers was added using one of the "V" stamps.  The flowers ground the windmill, so it doesn't look like it is floating in air and also provide a pop of color.

Since the Tulip Fields Stamp Set does not include sentiments, I used the birthday sentiment from the Flowering Tulips Stamp Set.

I hope you have enjoyed the Tulip Fields cards this week and that you have been inspired to give this bundle a try.  The wedges of Tulips stamps looked a bit daunting before I started, but I have to say that the designer and the engineer that sized and created these stamps did an awesome job.  It was much easier than I expected to align the images and create beautiful fields of flowers.
